Within 3 months of first contacting Hansen and Walgenkim, our case has settled to our full satisfaction. All o...f our monies lost in the bad car deal returned, including those we spent on mechanical repairs to the car for breakdowns that occured within 2 days of purchasing it from the swindling lot. Young Walgenkim, and Christopher Hamilton there, helped us recover the nearly $8k we lost in a bad used car deal. At lightening speed. With their responsiveness, concern for our situation and skill. They help us - despite a "Warranty. As Is" clause in our purchase paperwork, because they KNOW the law, and are hands-on and skillful and tactful with negotiation. The story... We had purchased a 2002 Mini Cooper from a used car lot in Portland. The transmission blew within a few weeks - the dealer knew it was going to fail. The CVT transmissions in Mini Coopers between 2002 - 2006 are defective - so much so that that BMW North America, sued in a big class-action, is offering to replace them under certain conditions (look it up). But because of Hansen and Walkgenkim, we didn't have to go hassle the complicated route of class actions to fix our problem. The dealer knew our transmission would fail but did not disclose it. The dealer knew this, because his wife had driven the car for a month before he put for sale on the lot. He unloaded the car on us when he became aware that it's breakdown was imminent. The Mini also had other severe problems (cooling assembly, within a few days of buying it, we spent $1k replacing the fan assembly). We were stuck, and were forced to buy another car. And screwed out of significant monies, at a hard time. To complicate things, we were out of state when it broke down, and we were stranded. We asked the dealer several times to refund our money on the purchase and to also reimburse the repairs they knew would be needed. The dealer simply, frustratingly, offered to charge us "only" $50 per hour to have their lot mechanic repair the transmission - a "refurbished" transmission. But we were looking at a proper (Mini certified mechanic) fix that would have cost $8,750. (Always use a brand dealer mechanic, not one that a used-car-lot has on site). Long story short: Hansen & Young tactfully forced the dealer to give us our money back, and to pay for the fan assembly repairs, and to pay their own towing from out of state. Without having to go to court. From the beginning, Young, and later Christopher, were very hands on and very responsive. They listened well, and they guided us appropriately in gathering the information we needed to make our case. We went through some negotiations with the other side, and Christopher Hamilton did a super job of writing one of the most powerful and compelling demand letters I have seen (I have a legal background, both his and Young's letters to the other side were outstanding, believe me). And after we concluded the settlement negotiations, their firm did an excellent and tactful job of connecting with and thanking the other side's attorney for their professional approach to the situation..
