About Ginger

Learn Ginger’s areas of practice.

My legal practice focuses on estate planning, tax and nonprofit work. What drives me as an attorney is being able to help my clients navigate successfully through an increasingly complex world. That’s why I went to the University of Washington School of Law and earned a Masters of Laws in taxation. I thoroughly enjoy being able to explain sophisticated tax concepts to everyday people.

Working with families to come up with unique solutions to prevent discord and future strife is one of the many aspects of my calling that I love. As an estate planning attorney, I take into consideration the dynamics of the entire family, not just the individuals in front of me. I like to empower clients through education so they can achieve their goals, both financial and personal.

My goal is to ensure that each of my clients has peace of mind, knowing their wishes have been made clear, should something happen to them.

Exceptional service from an incredible team of professionals
I'd like to say that Ginger Skinner's service was as simple as exceptional, but to do so would understate her unparalleled acumen in law, and the profound impact she has had for me and my family. Under difficult circumstances uncommon in standard probate procedures and with our family lacking the proper understanding of such proceedings, we were immediately turned away by the first three firms we engaged, while simply wishing to tie up the loose ends inherent in the legal proceedings of a personal loss. Ginger took our case without hesitation, knowing full well we were likely heading to insolvency with our loved one's affairs. Her capacity to practice law in both Oregon and Washington was indispensable for us, matched only by her firm understanding of the surprisingly different proceedings from a state perspective. Beyond this, she was also able to navigate the precarious nature of international law to which other lawyers had balked. Beyond her expertise, the genuine nature of Ginger's firm was evident from our first encounter, and has persisted throughout a difficult year of probate. There was never a moment of frustration from our lack of familiarity with the law, nor an issue encountered that was presumed unsolvable; an additional level of complexity was added due to our case involving issues related to estate administration following a business owner's death, but was handled with the utmost equanimity. Ginger and her team has set a precedent on my expectations of any legal firm I engage in the future, and I assure a similar experience to anyone in search of a lawyer who establishes what it truly means to be a professional.

Great work and advise
Recently my wife and I needed to have our trust updated and our estate plans reviewed. On advice of our financial advisor we turned to Ginger Skinner of Skinner Law. It is an understatement to say that we were delighted with the help and advice that Ms. Skinner provided. She was a good listener, a knowledgeable counsel and a thorough professional. It is without reservations that we would recommend Ginger Skinner to any who are needing an attorney for help with estate planning, business and tax law.

Knowledgeable and Caring Guidance
I sought out Ginger Skinner because she was well-versed in both estate and tax law. I was a widow in a state of high anxiety and vulnerability about several issues. Ginger put me quickly at ease, answering my questions, reassuring me, and setting simple priorities. She didn't just look at the facts, she evaluated me as a human being and tailored her approach to meet me where I was. (This was very different from experiences I've had with other professionals.) Estate and tax issues can be emotional and frightening. It makes all the difference to find someone who not only thoroughly understands the terrain but is genuinely caring.

A powerful turn of events
During my first phone conversation with Ginger, she provided more useful information than had been offered in over a year of struggling with an estate and trust that was going nowhere. She was able to cut through years of misinformation and neglect. Being a skilled collaborator, she spoke with multiple professionals and helped to get the progress needed in very complex estate and trust issues that involved various states. She will take on a challenge and move toward a solution. Ginger is a great listener and has provided options based on what was best for me. She has strong personal values and is determined to act in a client's best interest while validating their concerns and is unafraid to confront and fight those who attempt to take advantage of her clients. I would hire Ginger again; she would be my first call. She is honest and compassionate, and her staff is warm and professional. I would recommend Ginger to anyone in need of a champion. Her counsel is money well spent.

Excellent tax advice for a complicated probate
I turned to Ginger Skinner to help provide tax guidance on a very complex estate probate that had already been active for more than a year. She was immediately able to provide critical information that had not been provided by the primary probate law office or the accounting office they had originally referred me to. Ginger was able to get me pointed in the right direction and working with the correct resources to unwind the tax nightmare associated with the complicated estate. I wish I had known about Skinner Law when I was originally seeking a law office to start the probate process.

Ginger was so helpful with every aspect related to my friend's estate. Her knowledge and capabilities were clear right from the start. She was very quick to respond and right on top of every step of the journey. She made the whole process as easy and comfortable as could be imagined, steering me through it gracefully. I highly recommend Ginger for any legal assistance with estate issues!

Estate probate for father
My sister's and I live out of state from where my Dad's probate case was filed. It would have been impossible to make regular visits. Ginger Skinner and staff made it possible to move forward in a timely manner. They mailed, e-mailed, and telephoned me every step of the way. This helped me to understand the process, which helped me to be fair and patience. I highly recommend.

An excellent attorney for trusts
I'm very glad my financial adviser recommended that I see Ginger Skinner for my trust update. When I called her, she told me we could have a meeting that would be at no cost to explore my problem, and to see if she thought she could help me. Also it let me meet her to decide if I thought she and I would be a good match. At the meeting I explained my needs and she told me how she worked and told me how much it would cost. I liked having that information up front. We set up a timeline and it all flowed smoothly. I felt she was very knowledgeable about Oregon trust laws! To sum it up, Ginger was knowledgeable, efficient, and very personable. I'd definitely see her again if there was a need.

Reopen Probate Estate
So appreciated working with Ginger. She was honest with me about the costs and what needed to be done. Paperwork was efficiently prepared and I was surprised at how quickly the process moved. She explained "stuff" to me so I could understand. So refreshing after working with the original probate lawyer, which I would not recommend.

Estate planning
We chose Ginger Skinner to design an estate plan for our family, a task we had put off for many years. We were impressed with her patient approach to the process, attention to our individual family needs and making positive recommendations that resulted in a very satisfactory and workable portfolio. We feel secure in knowing that our family has clear guidance as we age and best of all, an understanding lawyer to use as a resource.

Excellent lawyer for estate planning
I strongly recommend Ginger Skinner for help in estate planning. She drew up my will, as well as a medical directive. She knows thoroughly federal and Oregon tax laws and can advise how best to draw up a will that matches your needs and wishes.

The Advocate You've Been Looking For
I can whole-heartedly recommend Ginger's legal skills. She has a great ability to quickly identify the key legal issues and address them in a cost-effective manner. She has excellent research skills and is able to identify appropriate cases to support the position she is prosecuting, while being aware of the strengths and limitations of each precedent she cites. She is a very valuable person to have promoting your cause.

Great communicator
Ginger responded quickly to our needs. She wrote a concise, clear document, which a non-lawyer could understand. She helped us through several revisions and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. We will use her again for our future legal needs and I have no hesitation to recommend her to my friends and associates.
