John W Neidig

John Neidig represented me a few years ago for a charge relating to property damage. I had not committed any vandalism myself, but I was present when the vandalism was committed. For this service Mr. Neidig charged me several thousand dollars. The owner of the property I was accused of vandalizing ex...pressed a willingness to settle out of court if I paid for property damage, and I repeatedly tried to bring this offer to the attention of Mr. Neidig, but I couldn't, as he didn't take more than my first two phone calls during the many months that he served as my lawyer. It was extremely frustrating. Had I known it was an option at the time, I would have filed a complaint with the Oregon State Bar for his refusal to speak with me, his client. Three years later, when I was eligible to expunge this offense from my record, I consulted Mr. Neidig about filing the necessary paperwork, since he had represented me in the case originally. He quoted me a fee of well over $1000 to complete and file a one-page document subject to a roughly $100 filing fee. I decided to do it myself. Even though I lived out of state at the time, it was almost a thousand dollars cheaper for me to fly to Portland and submit the expungement paperwork myself than to hire Mr. Neidig to do it. And that was without doubt the easiest interaction I ever had with the court. If you want a responsive or accessible lawyer who cares about your individual case, do not hire Mr. Neidig.

He even checked in to see how everything was going after my issues were solved and gave me advice that saved me further problems. One could say I was driven to seek legal advice from John Neidig, P.C. - Criminal Defense Attorney. Having known John for over 20+ years both professionally and personally it was a bit embarrassing to have to make this call. I couldn’t afford one more driving citation. In late April of 2004 I found myself in the worst situation imaginable, Incarcerated in Multnomah county jail, charged with murder for shooting my best friend to death with no bail possible and little to no hope in sight. Immediately upon retaining John as council that window of hope began to widen... immediately. Communication was great and he worked very closely with me and my family to eventually get me bailed out and put on house arrest awaiting trial. While on house arrest I felt that all matters regarding my case were being taken care of perfectly by John and his law office. This was very important to me considering I had a lot to deal with mentally preparing for trial and helped me feel at ease during a time that I was facing life in prison and I really appreciated it. During trial John was there for me 100% from the beginning to end, I entrusted John with my life and because of his hard work and dedication to me and my family in Feb 2007 I made history in Portland OR, by being acquitted on the charge of Murder and walking out of that courtroom a free man. I had dealt with other lawyers in the past, but John made them all seem amateurish, his level of professionalism and knowledge within the legal realm are second to none in my opinion.
