Empathetic and dedicated!

Tim Eblen was excellent. I had a somewhat complicated case and had been to two lawyers before him. They didn’t take me seriously enough to really look deep into my case. But Tim listened and read everything thoroughly. My case was time sensitive so he worked quickly and communicated with me the entir...e way. I’m so happy to be done, end up on the right side of it, and move on with my life!

Lost and found

Our business found itself in unfamiliar territory, being on the losing end of a good faith business contract where our cooperation was met with deceit. The US Bankruptcy Court recognized our efforts and made efforts to collateralize our expenses, but without expert knowledge and experience on our si...de we were still drifting out to sea. Tim Eblen came highly-recommended. He knows this area of law. I was impressed upon our first meeting. It's not your typical attorney's office and, yet, it is exemplary of what you would hope to find in Portland. I immediately felt welcomed and listened to when I came into the office, met the staff and met Tim. He didn't rush me and made great efforts to know me personally as well as our business and situation. His confidence assured us that it would be handled completely and professionally. And Tim delivered. While I hope to never be in this situation again, I know where I am turning to when I come across situations involving bad debt and bad faith.

Very grateful

I had just gotten my SSI and I opened up a bank account. Right after that a debt collector was trying to take all my money . It was less than a thousand and I needed it for my daughter and myself. My SSI attorney gave me Tim Eblen's name. The debt collectors took every penny out of my account. Talkin...g to Mr Eblen he reassured me that he would get the money back to me.he helped me every step of the way.He did get my money back for me , but Mr Eblen did not like the way they treated me, so he went above and beyond for me and had gotten me more money from them . Five star no not even it's a 10 star Thank you so ,so much ,good bless you and your team for your excellent work .

Debt Collection Consultation

I met with Tim a few months back for advise on where I stood in trying to collect a debt owed on some promissory notes by an individual who I had a judgement against. Tim took the time to understand a disability I live with and tailored our meeting to accommodate. He walked me through several possibl...e scenarios and then reviewed my options based on practicalities and legalities in a manner that was understandable for the layman. While it didn't make sense to pursue the matter at this time, Tim helped me lay out a long term plan for collection on the judgment from this individual. He impressed me as someone who is honest and compassionate. Thanks Tim!

Out of state debt collections issue resolved

I'm a bilingual liaison for families accessing disability services. I hired Tim and James with Eblen Freed,LLP to negotiate on my behalf with a collection agency's attorney. Last year, while providing hospice care for my elderly mother, I received a demand for payment from a collection agency. It cam...e at the worst possible time for me personally. The crazy thing is I found myself held responsible for a large debt that I did not incur. I was getting nowhere trying to negotiate on my own with the collection agency's attorney. Due to the type of business I'm in, I'm no stranger to litigation. I've worked with many fine lawyers, but, in my opinion, Tim and James with Eblen Freed,LLP are of the best I've ever seen. Before they entered the case, I had no game plan I was likely going to be forced settle the case at a high financial and emotional cost because I did not have the confidence to try the case. Once they entered the picture, everything changed for two reasons. First, Tim undertook to thoroughly review everything (leaving no stone unturned) and uncovered a very significant piece of correspondence. This was a game changing moment that dramatically changed our strategy going forward and would likely not have occurred had Tim not entered the case. Second, James was tenacious in everything he did in representing me. James is strategic, and like other top lawyers, he constantly thinks five or six moves ahead. I place Eblen Freed,LLP at the very top of my list because of ability, dedication, values, communication skills, trial skills, and the overall ability to see the big picture.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
