Talia Yasmeen Guerriero

I found Talia to be an exceptional human being and a skillful advocate and lawyer. She is what I would call true counsel and epitomizes why lawyers were given the name "counsel". I am always grateful for her...as a lawyer/advocate/counselor, and even more as a human being. I give her my unqualified ...recommendation and commendation. I was devastated. I had just undertaken the most courageous decision of my life, and come out transgender at 55 years old. While this decision was the most powerful and truly liberating choice of my entire life (and likely saved my life), it also carried with it some powerful and destructive ramifications. As those consequences reverberated and played out, I found myself unemployed, devastated, and sitting in the shambles of over 3 decades of faithful and committed living/service all fallen in around me due to the institutionalized transphobia that we struggle with in our current paradigm. As you might imagine, I was all over the map in terms of what I wanted and in terms of the storms I had endured. Talia was very sensitive to my situation, very cognizant of the horrors and the wonders all hitting all at once. I found that time and again she delicately and skillfully presented to me what she thought was my best course of action while always making it clear to me that I was in charge and she would execute my wishes to the fullest extent of her ability. And while our legal consultations came to a conclusion (we drank champagne together), she has dropped me the occasional note checking in with me and letting me know she is mindful, even still, of the cross-section of life we lived together.
