Gratitude

I first consulted Shannon Hall after my husband decided to separate from me when I was 74 years old. She thoroughly explained what a separation agreement would entail, and under what circumstances it would be worth pursuing one. I was impressed that she did not push me to do so unless I felt it mig...ht be necessary. When he decided to divorce me a year later, she guided me through the whole process, with kindness and understanding. She knew how to obtain information about his financial activities, and how to protect my future livelihood. Without her experience and acumen, I could have been a victim of my own naivete. I am very grateful to her.

Excellence

Shannon helped me with a paternity case. I was impressed with her thoroughness. And, that she guided me through the process and she was very communicative throughout. She is also very understanding and compassionate. Shannon really knows the law. You can not find a better attorney!

Complicated custody

Shannon is hard working, dedicated, and passionate. She showed tremendous support through a very difficult and drawn out custody case. Great communication, very knowledgeable, excellent litigation skills. Very fair and reasonable billing practices.

dropped the ball at the end, then filed against own client before end of case

at first she was very attentive and seemed on the ball and quick thinking. then she got focused on the little irrelevent details, and spent hours racking up on little things for example, like a value of a car, instead of focusing on the bigger picture. In the hearing, she refused to ask the questi...ons to the otherside she needed to, saying it wasn't important, and refused to challenge the other side's witnesses lies, instead of discretting them, she kept dropping the ball. When i was on the stand, she forgot to ask questions we discussed. She forgot document copies on day of trial more than once, and asked me in court last minute for them. We lost the case, and before I even knew it she filed a lean on my settlement, not giving me a chance to pay. despite the fact, she was always paid, as requested, and had no reason to file against me without warning. It was bad for my credit, but she didn't care, and just said when I questioned why? Answer, to guarantee she got paid! how does an attorney turn on her client for no reason? she wasn't looking out for me, but for herself. I had written a good review in the begiinning when she took my case, but that was before the case was over. She may be good at custody when she doesn't have a seasoned apponent, but in a heated divorce, when the other side has a strong attorney, she panicked. Also dressing sexy for court didn't impress our judge, or help our case!

The client who left this review had a divorce case involving property division and spousal support (there was no child custody involved). Despite all of my hard work and dedication to this client’s case, she did not prevail at trial. Sometimes it can be difficult for clients to understand what information is important for a Judge to hear and what information is not. This is precisely the reason it is important to have an attorney's assistance. Every case is different and not every client will be happy with the outcome. The client who left this review was found by the Court to “completely lack credibility,” which was very harmful to her case. She filed a complaint against me (and her previous lawyer) with the Oregon State Bar and, after an investigation, the Bar found that no professional misconduct had occurred. Rather than publicly dispute each statement and allegation made in the review, I would ask potential clients reading the review to consider the Judge’s credibility finding and the fact that the Oregon State Bar heard everything the client had to say, and found that I had done nothing wrong. Thank you.

Legal advise in Eugene or Salem

Shannon was very professional with her handling of our case. She was aggressive when needed and also very compassionate with the particular circumstances. With her having an office in Salem and Eugene she was more accessible also. She was very knowledgeable in the correct procedures of law (too ba...d some Judges are not). I would hire Shannon again if we needed a lawyer in Eugene or Salem.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
