Providing high quality legal representation to every client is Chris Trotter's first priority. With a strong academic background and well-rounded practical experience, he is able to help clients navigate their way through the often complex and confusing legal system. It can be very intimidating to get involved in the legal system, particularly when facing criminal charges. Specializing in the area of criminal defense, Chris can provide you or your loved one with excellent and aggressive legal representation.
Chris has experience in both criminal defense and prosecution. During his undergraduate studies, he completed a full-time internship with the Office of the State Public Defender. During law school, he gained valuable experience in criminal prosecution working for the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. Chris has appeared in circuit court for jury and bench trials, motion hearings, arraignments, pretrial conferences, change of plea hearings, and probation violation hearings on both sides of the aisle. As a criminal defense attorney, this experience has proven to be very beneficial. Chris has successfully defended many clients, including receiving “Not Guilty” verdicts at bench and jury trials in multiple jurisdictions around the state. He is proud to be part of a high quality legal team that works hard to provide excellent legal representation to every client. When you come to Trotter Law, you can be confident that you are in good hands. Whether you are facing traffic violations, misdemeanor criminal charges, or serious felony charges, Chris has the skills, knowledge, and experience to provide the representation you need.
Chris was born and raised in Western Montana. Staying in the beautiful Northwest was a priority for him, so he attended undergraduate school in Idaho and law school in Oregon at Willamette University College of Law. He is happily married. He enjoys hiking, reading, and playing and watching sports of all kinds.

No fancy double-talk....just good solid delivery
Chris was passionate about my innocence in defending me. In my limited legal knowledge he went way beyond standard measures to prove me innocent and cut costs associated with my legal defense. He will be my first contact in future legal matters, if required,

Excellent criminal defense lawyer
Chris did a very good job of preparing a defense, outlining strategies and preparing for trial. He was honest and up front about both chances of success and possible adverse outcomes. I was kept informed of all developments and provided all information as soon as it was available. Fees were clearly p...
"Chris has a sterling reputation in the community and is a common referral from our office when we cannot take a case for one reason or another. I strongly endorse Mr. Trotter for anyone seeking criminal counsel."

He is a trusted source of expertise if I need a second opinion or a legal concept vetted. He is a compassionate and caring lawyer that not only cares about his clients, but also has the skill to win cases and the reputation for winning gracefully."
"Chris is fiercely intelligent and constantly striving to ensure his clients are in the best possible position. I endorse this lawyer."

"Chris is a great attorney. He is diligent, and always looking for new ways to attack the State's charges. I also know that he has won some hard fought trials on some very serious charges. You will be in good hands, in my opinion."
"I strongly endorse this lawyer. Chris worked in a very large and competitive District Attorney's Office before he joined the Short Law Group. When he prosecuted cases he was very successful and he has continued that success as a criminal defense attorney. He recently had a not guilty jury verdict that came back in approximately 10 minutes. He is intelligent and very quick on his feet....attributes any client would want in a trial lawyer. It is an absolute pleasure working with Chris."
"Chris is a dedicated attorney that goes to bat for his clients. He is a trustworthy and skilled attorney who is able to obtain excellent results for his clients. I highly endorse Mr. Trotter."
