Biography
When I was given the Ken Morrow Lifetime Achievment Award by the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in December 2011, Oregon Chief Justice Paul DeMuniz stated: "Simply put, few lawuers are blessed with the combination of intellectual power and analytical skills that are the hallmark of John Henry Hingson III."
My mother gave a plaque to me to hang on the wall in my office. It contains the words of one of America's finest criminal defense lawyers, Clarence Darrow. It reads: To be an effective criminal defense counsel, an attorney must be prepared to be demanding, outrageous, irreverent, blasphemous, a rogue, a renegade, and a hated, isolated and lonely person... Few love a spokesman for the despised and the damned." My mother understood and appreciated my calling.
