An AMAZING Attorney

We originally hired Michelle in 2006 for my oldest. This was back before autism was a thing. But she immediately recognized all the illegal things the school district had done and got her a 504 that dealt with her 2E issues. She didn’t have to pull out of IB or AP and was able to graduate from hig...h school, undergrad and get her grad degree with Michelle’s help. By the time we got to my youngest who needed medical assistive devices in school, they had changed attorneys and the attorneys simply stalled hoping to bankrupt the clients into submission. She took us as far as she could, then recommend pulling in the OCR who was willing to take our case.

Past Client

Michelle was a god send! I counted my lucky stars I found her just in time. This time last year, my 7th grade brother got himself into major trouble with his school. He went on discord and used the N word to refer to a classmate. The classmate took a screenshot of the messages and reported him. Just... for that, the school suspended my brother for 5-days, pending an involuntary transfer to an alternative school (think of a school for troubled/violent students). It was literally the last week of school, before winter break, when all this happened. Most attorneys were on Christmas break, but not Michelle; thank God!!! With literally just 1 day before meeting with the district administrator, Michelle was able to work with me via phone to gather all the information she needed for the case. Given the short notice, Michelle was unable to attend the meeting with us in person, but she attended by phone and it made all the difference! All she said to the district and their attorney (who also joined by phone), was my brother was already punished enough and his actions did not warrant being transferred to an alternative school; she wanted to discuss how we can get him back to school ASAP. Literally just like that, the district agreed and drafted paperwork for us to sign so my brother could return to school that same day. Had it not been for Michelle and her hard work, we would have been drowned in stress. Thank you Michelle, for everything you did for us! PS, the administrator later told me he really liked Michelle because unlike other attorneys, she wanted to have a conversation, rather than laying down the law and debating it. I believe that was her magic!

Highly Recommend

I highly recommend Michelle Ball. We were dealing with a situation where my son was not going to be able to participate in the 8th grade promotion ceremony. We called Michelle Ball and she acted immediately and wrote a letter to the district. Within a few weeks of the school receiving the letter, we ...received a call from the school and was informed my son can participate. Michelle is extremely knowledgeable in education law, prompt and easy to work with.

Fought Back Intimidating School Investigation

The school district was investigating racist incident at son's high school. Their legal office out of nowhere sent an intimidating email on a Friday morning demanding to interview my son in the principal's office on the following Monday morning. He had nothing to do with the incident, nor did he have... any knowledge of who did. Given this, and because of the investigator's threatening tone, I got a referral to talk with Ms Ball. Long story short, I retained her services on behalf of my son, she contacted the district investigators reminding them of my son's rights. Instead of an interview at the intimidating atmosphere of the principal's office during school hours, she was able to schedule the interview after school via zoom. She attended the interview with my son and I. She stopped any questions that were beyond the scope of the investigation. Well worth the time and investment. Highly recommend her to protect your family's rights and interests.

Highly recommend!

When you find your child being mistreated by the school system, it can be a difficult process. Our daughter was suspended, and we felt we were unjustly being bullied by the principal and vice principal of her school. It took us a few weeks before we were able to figure out what we needed to do, an...d that was when we contacted Michelle. She contacted the school district's attorneys and discovered that the suspension was against the school's own policy. So the principal of the school was forced to remove the suspension from our daughter's record. We were happy with the end results, and I would not hesitate to use Michelle Ball in the future to protect our rights. She was easy to communicate with, personal and understanding. Highly recommend!
