Justin P. Barrell

Justin P. Barrell is one-half of the founding partners of Barrell & Janke Law LLP.

Prior to founding Barrell & Janke Law and moving over to practicing Family Law, Justin started his legal career working for one of Sacramento's leading criminal and DUI defense law firms. It was there he learned the ins and outs of the criminal and DUI defense field, having handled hundreds of cases involving almost all aspects of the criminal field. Not only did Justin gain the skills necessary to successfully negotiate and resolve criminal cases, Justin also gained invaluable experience as a trial attorney as well.

During Justin's time with his prior law firm, he went on to establish a perfect jury trial record, which is no small feat for any attorney, let alone a new attorney. Most notable of Justin's jury trials was a case involving felony armed robbery. Justin's client was facing 18 years in state prison and after a 2 2/2 week jury trial; the jury returned a verdict of not guilty!

Before Justin got into the legal world, he worked for the State of California's Department of Health Care Services. While working full-time, he went on to successfully attain his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Sacramento City College, Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from CSUS and eventually a Juris Doctorate from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento.

Justin is a Sacramento Native and takes pride in practicing law in his hometown. What makes Justin unique from many of his peers in the legal world is that he grew up in one of Sacramento's rougher areas. This in turn puts Justin in a position to understand the circumstances a potential client may be facing and allows clients to be that much more comfortable knowing Justin is just a regular guy, no different than themselves.

When Justin isn't practicing law, he enjoys spending his time with his family, which consists of his wife, son and several dogs and cats – the newest member being a Doberman Pinscher. Justin also enjoys restoring classic American cars and attending car shows.
