Donald P. Novey has more than a decade of experience working with public safety associations and labor unions and was a founding partners of Novey, Tribuiano & Yamada before breaking off to form the Novey Law Group, APC.

Previously, Don worked for a law firm representing agricultural companies in all aspects of labor and employment matters including: election campaigns under the Agricultural Labor Relations Act, unfair labor practice charges, collective bargaining, OSHA citation appeals and I-9 immigration compliance audits.

Don also worked for the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA), formerly known as California Union of Safety Employees (CAUSE). CSLEA represents approximately 180 different public safety classifications in 42 state departments including: the Department of Justice (DOJ) Special Agents; DOJ Criminalists; State Hospital Police Officers; Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Investigators; Fish and Game Wardens; State Park Police Officers; California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatchers; Alcohol and Beverage Control (ABC) agents; and License and Registration Examiners.

Don also worked for a preeminent Sacramento law firm specializing in personal injury, workers’ compensation, labor and union matters for nine years. Don gained valuable experience in personal injury and workers’ compensation matters, as well as conducting numerous seminars in the field of workers’ compensation for labor organizations, including police, sheriff, fire associations and private labor unions. Don specialized in facilitating client relationships and serving as the representative for the firm at statewide labor conferences.

Don’s upbringing in the public safety arena gives him a unique advantage to better assist public safety associations and private labor unions with labor and employment matters, collective bargaining and workplace injuries.

Mr. Novey took over my case after another firm dropped the ball. He was patient and professional. He is constantly available to answer questions. His staff treat me like family. I cannot say enough about his being a straight shooter. Here you get the real story. He sets expectations and delivers. If something changes he will advise you about it. Professional yet to the point. Courteous and smart. Answers questions and delivers answers.

Actually Cares.

Don, is a straight shooter. Prompt, on time and explains things very well. There is no sloppy or lack of professionalism. I'm living out a better life now and he was there to make sure I got the help I needed. Not sure what else I can say. Its usually never a good time when we have to get a lawyer involved, but Don was an advocate and not just a lawyer. If you are reading this, you are in the right place.

Professional, Honest, Dedicated, and Knowledgeable

My corporation hired Mr. Novey for a labor claim our company was facing. In a short period of time the matter went to trial and Mr. Novey was extremely prepared. He engaged the other side, a quite formidable opposition, with total confidence and aggressiveness. Despite every effort made by the opposing side to shift the focus of the case, even to the point of introducing witness testimony about an unrelated incident in which a Black Bear was shot and killed by a fellow employee, Mr. Novey was able to keep his courtroom composure, recovered from the unsuspecting ploy, and persevered. Mr. Novey won our case and the plaintiff was awarded nothing. I would not hesitate to retain his services again, if needed.
