Steven Allan Whitworth

I hired Mr. Whitworth for a DUI/FELONY case. Mr. Whitworth was barely present at any of the courts I had. He was easy to hire but hard to get in contact with from that point on. Perhaps it was my mistake for paying his fees in total and upfront. When he did show up he was great in court and had my fe...lony dropped to a misdemeanor. But everything in between and after was terrible. My case was suspended as I was pregnant and then breastfeeding. I still had court dates and he was nowhere to be found. At one court date the Judge was furious that not only did he not show up, he didn't call or have a colleague stand in for him. I felt like I was in even worse trouble as a result of his absence. I know this instance probably didn't hurt me and my case. But when you're are the mercy of the court - it sure doesn't feel like it's helping. On my last court date he told me that I didn't have to show up, and to just fax my court ordered class enrollment and that he'd contact the DA . I was concerned that I might get a warrant since the judge ordered me to be there at the previous court hearing. So he said to avoid the stress, for me to just go and he'd be there. The morning of my court date he wasn't there, wasn't answering my texts or calls. No explanation no apology -nothing. I was there all day and the very last to be called since my paid attorney was a no show.

Mr. Whitworth is very intelligent and engaging. However, I would not hire him again. He handled the criminal aspect of the case adequately from a legal perspective, but not professionally. He showed up for maybe 2 of 5 court appearances and 3 of those times sent a colleague without any notice (who wa...s late). He said he could defend a professional license (for a large fee), which was handled very poorly. This was more important than the criminal case, and he sent a green attorney in his place, who we hadn't met or spoken to earlier than ten minutes before the hearing. If you have a high profile criminal case, he's your guy. Otherwise, communication and professional courtesy is nil. Do not hire him for any professional license defense. You will lose.

Attorney Whitworth represented me in an employment case. He is an incredibly smart and compassionate lawyer who knows his stuff, and fights for his clients.
