I graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, was promoted to the rank of Captain, attended Loyola and Notre Dame Law Schools, graduated in the top 5% of my class, was a Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County, and have practiced for over 38 years. My mission is to make a difference each and every day--where the law meets the people.

Kept my retainer, even though unearned
I needed representation for a traffic misdemeanor. He took my money and provided no meaningful representation, yet refused to return my "retainer". (Bar rules specify that unearned fees must be returned to the client.) I did better with a public defender. "Dump truck" would be the appropriate c...

Replied last February 10, 2012This disgruntled person was facing a hit-and-run misdemeanor and a DUI. After I completed my work for him, he was convicted of a minor traffic offense and paid a small fine. He thought he should not have to pay even my reduced fee. It is true that you cannot satisfy everyone.
