FOREVER GRATEFUL!

The story below explained our experience in modification with CAFA OFFICE. As a discouraged homeowner, we've been through a lot, but because of friendship with one of their associate at CAFA, we were encouraged to take another chance, and maybe CAFA is the answer. On the day of trustee sale last ...August 30, all our hope were gone, bank will not cancel the sale, no freinds, no CAFA, nothing else. I called an Attorney Arasto Farzad who was referred by a friend and maybe he could help. In short, I talk to him, and he said he will try but the fee is high and we agreed that we will not pay until we get a modification. The Trustee sale was cancelled on that day. Our hope was alive that we can still save the house. On October 4, we received a call from our lawyer that we are approved of trial modification and the next day, we received a letter from Bank of America that the trial modification will start next month. It was a torture from December-August with our experience with CAFA, first they just give us a computation on a sheet of paper that they said that will qualify us in modification. And every Trustee sale, they will just say file a bankruptcy, fill up this paper, go to Bankruptcy Court, pay the fee. As a homeowner, never had a background of bankruptcy and hoping to save the house, I follow. Again, the next month of Trustee sale, we need to buy more time, so, go tho this person, he prepares a Chapter 13 paperworks, pay $350.00 and then go to Bankruptcy court then pay. You know what, I did my part and my very best on this modification. I call the bank to follow up the status of my application. The bank said, no documents submitted. So the contact person in BofA which is my primary contact always email or call me to submit this and this and this and this. I was fast in submitting all paperworks, but at the end nothing happened. and I don't know, I did not really get the help I needed from CAFA. My concern right now is: CAFA DID NOT RENDERED ANY SERVICE FOR ME. THEIR PROMISE IS TO SAVE EVERY HOME. IT'S AN UPFRONT FEE OF $3300 THAT THEY COLLECTED FROM US. THE BILL SAID THAT PROVIDERS SHOULD NOT BE COMPENSATED UNTIL THE CONTRACTED SERVICE HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. May you understand our concern as a homeowner, thanks and please we need the refund money soonest possible time. Email is my best contact. thank you so much in advance. __________________________________ January 6, 2013, I got my permanent modification from my bank. Thank you so much Atty Farzad.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
