Replied last August 28, 2018I can understand how frustrating it can be when you are reaching out for information in a difficult situation and not receiving what you feel you need as quickly as you want it. However, most attorneys will refrain from providing substantive information in the phone call setting up the first consultation appointment. To give advice the attorney must have a complete picture of each client's situation, and that is not possible in a brief appointment setting call. It does not do the client a service to give advice under those circumstances, and it would violate our ethical responsibilities. But, we know how critical it is for people to get the advice they seek as quickly as possible, so, if we do not have the time to have the initial consultation right when a client first calls in, we will schedule a telephone or in-person appointment very soon after.
