Incredible Lawyer

Charles Carbone has been the best lawyer we have ever hired. He is very professional , knowledgeable, and easy to contact. My brother was granted Parole in September 2014 thanks to Mr. Carbone. With his knowledge and expertise he was able to convince the Parole Board that my brother deserves a second... chance after 20 years of incarceration. I truly think that without him, this would have not been possible. I felt at peace knowing that my brother was going to his hearing with the best Representation in California. He is very knowledgeable of the parole process, and prison system. I would recommend Mr. Carbone to anyone who wants the best representation for their loved one. He is incredible at taking care of the District Attorney as well. He has brought much happiness to our family getting my brother approved twice for parole, Back to back due to a recent disciplinary event. He always returned my phone calls, emails, and got back to me if I just had a simple comment. He made me feel comfortable. Thank you Mr Carbone for your hard work, and for giving it 110% for my brother. We will always be in debt to you. God Bless you :)

A true gem of an attorney

Attorney Carbone has been the biggest blessing to our incarcerated family member and our family. He represented a Lifer of 20 years and got him a date, not once but twice! We will all be eternally grateful for his work, expertise and relentless efforts in helping our family member getting granted pa...role. Not only did Carbone live up to what he promised, he surpassed it. He was clear at all times with our options, and he made sure he explained all possible outcomes (good and bad). When our family first hired Attorney Carbone for a subsequent parole hearing, I did tons of research on him and read every article I could find on him. I was impressed to say the very least. I can honestly say he lived up to our expectations and brought an inexplicable amount of joy to our family after both of his representations at our family member's parole hearings. In reading the transcript of the first hearing in January, I know Carbone was knowledgeable, well versed and determined to fight for prisoner rights. Just yesterday, Carbone pulled what we all feel is a miracle. He was able to represent my family member after a recent write up and now, my family member will finally see freedom after 20 years of incarceration that began when he was only a minor. Carbone met with my family member several times before each hearing, kept communication clear and really prepared him for his hearing. After being represented by several public defenders in his other parole hearings, Carobone's professionalism and guidance gave our family member hope and a strong sense of a real possibility of one day getting out. More than anything, Carbone "kept it real" with our family member and plainly told him he was not sugar coating anything. From my standpoint, I appreciate that Carbone really made my family member dig deep and realize how his past decisions led up to the crime committed and forced him to gain a level of insight that had not been acknowledged in all his prison life. In short, it is difficult to find good attorneys and even more so to find great post-conviction attorneys who truly understand and advocate for prisoner rights. His stats alone should speak for themselves. We lucked out with Carbone and will always be grateful for what he has done for our family member and our family.

Beware

I was referred to Mr. Carbone by reputable attorneys as someone who could help my incarcerated husband with a harassment issue he was experiencing. I called and emailed him multiple calls, but none was returned until the referring attorney put a call in on my behalf. After an informative & assuring c...onversation with Mr. Carbone I agreed to pay him $500 for two hours of his time; one to write a letter to the institution and another in anticipation of a necessary response. He wrote the letter, it was good and effective. Then he disappeared. My husband mailed him time sensitive documents pertaining to the issue at hand requesting he mail them to recipient on his behalf. I emailed Mr. Carbone weekly for a month asking for confirmation he received the mail & resent it. I received no response. We were now against the time deadline for those documents to be received. I called & emailed Mr. Carbone daily, impressing the seriousness and urgency of the situation (something he should be well aware of as this is his area of expertise). After over a week of attempts to contact him, I reenlisted the referring attorney; again, Mr. Carbone was suddenly responsive. He casually affirmed that he had mailed everything & expressed shock that my husband hadn't received the copy Mr. Carbone mailed to him. As my husband had received another document from Mr. Carbone (the institution's response to the letter he actually did write initially), which was postmarked after he supposedly mailed the now missing documents, I have extreme doubts he ever did anything with the time sensitive materials. Those materials were never received by the intended recipient or my husband. I hounded Mr. Carbone for months pleading with him to write to the recipient that he had in fact mailed the docs in a timely manner but they must have been lost -- nothing; no response. I have copious emails documenting my attempts to reach Mr. Carbone, complete with his non-response; it's truly disappointing and horribly disheartening. In the midst of all this, I will allow that Mr. Carbone said he had a death in the family. With all sympathy, I don't understand how a professional does not change their voicemail message, have an auto response email, or do anything to let their clients know they wouldn't be working for an extended period of time. Upon his return, he continued the pattern of non-response and showed an utter disregard toward follow-through on simple actions. I am saddened to have to write this review as I'd heard many good things about Mr. Carbone's work in the past, and it is especially difficult to find a good prisoners' rights attorney.
