Paul Anthony Matiasic

Paul was born in San Francisco and attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory before matriculating at Santa Clara University, where he earned a degree in Political Science. Thereafter, Paul earned his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law and studied International and European Union law at Oxford University, where he placed first in his class. At Pepperdine, Paul was on the Dean's List and received several Dean's Awards. In addition, he served as President of the student body, was a student mentor, participated in moot court competitions, was listed in the Who's Who Among American Law Students publication, and was a volunteer at the Union Rescue Mission Legal Clinic located on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles. While in law school, Paul clerked for the venerable San Francisco law firm, Walkup, Melodia, Kelly, Wecht. & Schoenberger.

Prior to founding The Matiasic Firm, Paul practiced at one of the five largest law firms in California in the areas of complex tort and personal injury litigation, including products liability, commercial liability, and wrongful death actions. Paul has been involved in some of the most high profile and complex civil cases in the state over the past decade. He was trial counsel in one of the first clergy sexual abuse cases to go to trial in the last ten years and was primarily responsible for handling over fifteen coordinated abuse cases. Paul was also trial counsel in a recent high stakes case involving fraud and breach of contract resulting in a very favorable jury verdict for his client.

In addition to his trial work, Paul has handled a variety of cases before the California Court of Appeal and California Supreme Court, including successfully obtaining a Writ of Mandatein a complex case involving First Amendment and Equal Protection rights.

Paul is an active member of the American Bar Association, Advisory Panel, and of the Italian American Lawyers Association. He was recently recognized in SuperLawyers Magazine as a Northern California Rising Star and in Madison Who's Who Among American Lawyers . His work has been chronicled in numerous media outlets including: Fresno Bee, Oakland Tribune, Santa Cruz Sentinel, Mercury News, Sierra Star, Contra Costa Times, KTVU, KSBW, and KION.  He is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California, the Northern, Central, and Eastern  United States District Courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
