We did not make it easy.... but Mark came through.
We have needed an Estate Plan, a Living Trust, the associated Last Will and Testaments, and reworked real estate titles for quite a few years. We finally got the initial procedure started with Mark and he laid out an easily understood plan and a concise timetable. But we had an unfortunate series of health issues on our part that turned Mark's concise, straightforward, and easily understood plan into a series of postponements and OhMyGod we need to get this done NOW issues. Mark worked with us and there was never a loss of confidence that it would get done when and how as required. Mark Goossens has my highest recommendations for both creating a Estate Plan and seeing it through regardless.
Great lawyer, but not always good on timely communication
I really enjoyed working with Mark and he did a fantastic job on our Estate planning. When we finally met with him he took lots of time to make sure my wife and I understood every detail. His work was top notch, and his prices are very reasonable.. I shopped around a lot before choosing Mark, and he was not the cheapest, but far from the most expensive.. The only problem we had was he would sometimes not respond to my emails and phone calls, and that got frustrating at times.
Response from Marinus Goossens April 14, 2017
Thank you for your kind review! Your criticism is fair. There were some technical hicc-ups with emails not coming through immediately, but that doesn't explain all of it. It's every busy attorney's challenge to juggle one's time between responding to emails and phone calls and not getting behind in work. All attorneys have had days gone by filled with phone calls and emails, without getting much work done. Since the beginning of this year, I have made some improvements to the office's case management system, which, hopefully, will assist with managing the work-flow better, and allowing me to stay on top of communications as well.
Unavailable and unresponsive service.
We are a client of Marinus Goosen’s and hired him to create our estate plan. As part of this service he agree to be available to answer questions and assist with updates as our lives progressed. Unfortunately, communications with Marinus became significantly delayed and are now non-existent. Communication is so poor that we can’t even confirm if he is a practicing attorney after 6 phone calls and multiple emails. Trusts are living documents which require maintenance and it’s critical an attorney be available for that future maintenance. Our lesson learned is to pick a group that has been around for a while with a clear succession plan.
