Expected better professionalism

I contacted Attorney Susan because she describes herself as an aggressive workplace discrimination attorney, and her family firm appears to frequently work with clients from a similar ethnic background as mine. As someone who is queer and has experienced discrimination at work, I hoped to find an att...orney who would be both knowledgeable and inclusive. To start with the positives, Susan was very upfront about her rates, which I appreciated. During our initial consultation, I stuttered at times while speaking (I am a non native speaker), and she asked whether I could afford her rates. She also stated that my case might not justify the expense of her time. I appreciated the directness regarding costs and chose to proceed. Afterward, I completed paperwork, gathered documents, and scheduled a second consultation. I was billed for a 30 minute phone call and one hour of document review. The phone call lasted 28 minutes. A significant portion of that time was spent clarifying information that was already included in the documents I had submitted. Several additional minutes were spent attempting to locate my LinkedIn profile, but another individual with the same name kept appearing in the search results. During the consultation, I was also given information that I knew to be outdated because I was actively navigating those programs at the time. My larger concern was the document review. During the call, I frequently had to remind Susan which documents I had submitted and where specific information could be found. Based on those interactions, I did not feel the documents had been reviewed as thoroughly or efficiently. I ultimately decided not to retain Susan. Part of that was because I needed additional time to consider my options, and part was because the issue I was seeking assistance with was temporarily resolved on its own. Overall, I left the consultations feeling that I was not consistently treated with respect. My pronouns were also not consistently respected. I am more than willing to pay professional rates for high quality legal services, but unfortunately that was not my experience here. This was disappointing because I had initially held Susan in high regard and had high hopes going into the consultation.
