Joel did my DUI hearing, and it went very well. For those who don't know, the DMV officer acts as both the judge and jury. Its completely stacked against you. At the outset, the DMV officer spent an inordinate amount of time getting ready. Then going through his own exhibits. At some point, ...he announced that he would need a continuance. Joel inquired as to why and apparently the DMV officer didn't have a document that he needed. At this point, Joel asked that the continuance request that the DMV officer was requesting (of himself) be denied. Joel made a speech on how not having the document there was not good cause. The document was available, it was just an oversight. After a long back and forth, the hearing officer begrudgingly agreed with Joel. The per se case was to be decided on the evidence available. We did the hearing and then 6 days later I got a notice that I had won. The document missing apparently was critical. Thanks, Joel.

The DMV employee eventually conceded that the investigation and report were a mess, and they hadn't met their burden. Joel subpoen...aed all there documents and we now know how the officer will answer questions at trial. I'm feeling much better about my case.
