Attorney Bill Haney was exceptional. First of all, he was easy to reach and on the off chance I missed him, he was quick to respond. Second, he was thorough. He helped me with a domestic issue and his explanations of all sides really helped me to understand. Lastly, and perhaps most important, he was... upfront. He gave everything to me in a straightforward, honest manner, without any agendas. He spoke to the DA's office and helped my case to rejection. My 18 year old son committed several very serious crimes and with irrefutable evidence against him we had zero bargaining power with the district attorney’s office while trying to reach a plea agreement. Before finding Bill Haney, I hired a team of two lawyers at great expense who worked on the case... for six months and the best they could accomplish was an offer of 9 years in state prison. I don’t know if it was fate or a miracle but one day I was called to jury duty and was picked for a trial in which Bill was the defending attorney. As I watched his performance in the courtroom, I was in awe. He was so likable and believable that a person couldn’t help but agree with him and be on his side. Before hiring Bill, I did my research finding that Bill was a professor of law at Pepperdine University and a supervising attorney in the Ventura District Attorney’s office for more than two decades. Additionally, he was the go to attorney in Ventura county high profile cases. I thought, who better to understanding negotiating with the district attorney than someone who spent more than two decades in the office of the district attorney. Bill put together a 100+ page presentation for the district attorney and the judge making the argument that my son was redeemable and deserved a chance at rehabilitation. The judge agreed and miraculously allowed my son to serve just one year in jail, with no prison time, and two years drug rehabilitation. I have only one criticism of Bill and that is he doesn’t charge enough money for the level of skill he brings and the number of hours he worked under a flat fee agreement. He did extra things he didn't have to, that took many hours of his time, included several visits to my son at the jail and additional court dates to argue items that we understood had almost zero chance of succeeding. He said that he had to try everything even if it had little chance of success. Bill is an honest, fair and extremely talented lawyer. Hire him and I promise, you will not be disappointed.

My son who struggles with some mental illness issues got into some serious trouble with the law. My son should have been offered mental health but unfortunately he was not and he was brought up on some pretty frightening charges. We were very confused as to what direction we should take and wanted a ...second opinion. My sister referred Bill to us and said he is simply the best. She had called Bill and explained our situation and he told her "please have your sister email me, I want to help". I emailed Bill and he responded right away. He set up an appointment to meet us on his own time and dime, ON A SATURDAY! Bill put us at complete ease from the moment that we met him. He not only listened patiently to a hysterical mother (ME) but he calmly, professionally and with extreme compassion for my son and his situation, explained to all of the laws. He carefully explained what all of this meant for us and the possible outcomes. He put our mind at ease and assured my son that no judge was "going to hurt him" over this situation. He explained that sometimes people have bad days, he said even he has bad days. My son is a very quiet young man and is not very comfortable in social situations, especially when he is the focus of attention but Bill made him feel comfortable and really relieved a lot of his anxiety just speaking so frankly with him. We did not end up needing Bills services but his advice truly helped assist us and we ended up with a very satisfactory outcome in the end. He took this time to help us even though he was going to become a daddy any day! Need I say more about his dedication to his profession? I am eternally grateful! If I ever find myself in need of legal help again I know exactly who to call and would wholeheartedly refer him any chance I get to any one who is need of his services! Thanks for everything Bill!

I would highly recommend Bill Haney he is a great lawyer and a very carrying person he is not just any kind of lawyer. He truly cares about his clients he is always in contact and keeps you informed anytime he attends court on your behalf. I have had many issues with the law and he makes sure you are... aware of what is expected of you by the courts. I HIGHLY recommend Bill Haney!! He is one of a kind criminal defense attorney. My case was for a second DUI and a probation violation in Ventura County- one of the toughest counties in the country. I have had three lawyers in the past- all which were difficult to get a hold of and never returned my c...alls. Bill always called me and always kept me informed. He was very honest about the charges I had against me. He met with me several times in person and was available by phone and email. If I left a message he always returned the call the same day, or the next day at most. He is, by far, the BEST attorney I have ever had. I am a graduate student and was concerned with the case interfering with the completion of my degree. He worked with the courts to delay my sentencing until after I was finished with school. I had multiple court appearances and he went to every one of them while I was in school. He called me after every single appearance to let me know what happened. He helped me get in contact with an alcohol treatment expert and expert witness, who assessed my alcohol problem, kept track of my progress, with going to AA, treatment, following the laws, and finding a therapist. Bill was always in contact with everyone who was helping me and cared about the progress I was making. Bill not only helped with my case, but he also helped me to get involved in my recovery and back on track with my life! For the first time in my life, I have been sober for over a year! Bill always cared to ask me how I was doing with my sobriety and school every time we talked, and since my main priority was to finish my degree, he helped me ease a lot of my anxiety about the case so that I was able to focus on finishing school. Bill Haney is an extremely personable, supportive, and caring lawyer-all of which are very rare traits to find. He kept me informed of new laws and the status of my case. I had a violation in 2008 for a "dry reckless" and I was being charged with an enhancements as if this was a 3rd DUI violation instead of a 2nd!! Bill told me about this and helped to settle this in court- he won the case and had the enhancement charges dropped! He is very knowledgeable about the laws and did everything in his power to ensure the best possible outcome of my case. He used to be a DA and is well-known within the court system and is very knowledgeable about criminal law. For a 2nd DUI and probation violation, he was able to get me the minimum jail time (45 days), he was also able to extend my payments for 6 months, extended my remand date, and got me approved for the work furlough program! He even walked me over to apply for work furlough after court! I will definitely have Bill take care of any case that I have in the future- he is an excellent criminal defense attorney and I highly recommend Bill Haney to anyone!!
