Defendant retained Mr. Kent immediately upon contact with law enforcement and prior to charges being filed. Mr. Kent was able to make sure that the charges filed would allow for the best possible outco ... me. After charges were filed, Mr. Kent was able to negotiate away the felony Residential Burglary charge, and admit to a felont Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge. Although still a strike, that charge may be reduced to a misdemeanor upon successful completion of probation. Mr. Kent was then able to negotiate a 270 day county jail sentence that may be served on electronic confinement!

OUTCOME: Case Dismissed! Charges were kept from being filed!

Client was pro-active, and retained Mr. Kent as soon as client became aware of the investigation. Mr. Kent had client prepare some materials that shed the entire incident in a different light, and also ... made contact with the investigating detective. After acquiring the background information, an appointment was set with the detective to further discuss the matter. After the discussion, Mr. Kent felt that the detective was less concerned about client, and convinced that the incident, albeit unlawful, was not done with any malice. The District Attorney's Office then decided not to prosecute!

OUTCOME: No Jail! Client can earn a misdemeanor!

Client was wise enough to contact Mr. Kent immediately after Client became aware there was an investigation of child pornography. This allowed Mr. Kent to most effectively assist Client through this m ... atter. Client immediately enrolled in a Residential Sex Offender Treatment Program, and Mr. Kent was able to initiate communication with the Investigating Detective. Not only did this assist in the overall result, but kept Client from being arrested, and instead, able to surrender to court and post bail. Once the case was filed, Mr. Kent worked with the Deputy District Attorney, and was able to obtain a no jail result! Client will even be able to earn a misdemeanor after probation is successfully completed.

People v. JR - Felony DUI with Injury with a Prior: Resolves for No Jail and Misdemeanor!

OUTCOME: Misdemeanor with No Jail or Fine!!!

Client retained Mr. Kent in regards to a felony DUI with Injury while having a prior conviction for DUI in the last 10 years. Mr. Kent was quick to have Client enroll in a Rehabilitation Program and ... to notify the prosecutors of the same. This quick action helped to convince the prosecutor to file the matter as a misdemeanor, rather than the felony charge for which Client was arrested. After obtaining the discovery and medical records, Mr. Kent was able to convince the DA to offer the statutory minimum of 30 days in Jail. However, since Mr. Kent had previously asked the judge to order his client into the Rehabilitation Program he had voluntarily entered, Client received credit for the Jail through the Rehab Program, and for the fine! Client is happy sober, and ecstatic with the result!

People v. N.T. - $550,000 Embezzlement - No Jail!

OUTCOME: No prison! No Jail! Probation and House Arrest!

The client came in to see Mr. Kent for what client thought was a $150,000 embezzlement case. Mr. Kent knew it would be difficult, but advised client that he was confident he could keep client from goin ... g to prison. Once in court, it was discovered that the true loss was over $550,000! Mr. Kent knew that it would now be next to impossible to keep the client out of prison, let alone jail. Mr. Kent never gave up, and was ultimately able to resolve the case for a probationary sentence and 1 year in jail. Due to Mr. Kent's knowledge of the jail system, Mr. Kent arranged for his client to serve the sentence on house arrest, not in jail! Thereby, allowing the client to continue to work and stay with his family!
