DUI defense is, in many ways, far more complex that other areas of law. Fighting a DUI case requires a deep understanding of scientific and physiological limitations to prosecution as well as recognizing the way jurors process evidence and testimony.

Criminal Defense 25%

My practice is focused on low-cost DUI, Domestic Violence, Theft/Burglary, Drug Possession/Sales, Assault/Battery, Weapons offenses and all other Misdemeanor and Felony defense matters in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside & San Bernardino county courts

Drug Crime 20%

At this point, the big issue is whether a prosecutor can prove a Sales-Related case. Whether it is a Search/Seizure violation, a factual issue of Sales being shown or a negotiation of factors that justify leniency in punishment, I may be your guy.

Violent Crime 10%

Domestic Violence matters are obviously the focus of this area of law and properly defending someone in DV or other Assault-type cases requires an understanding of how to present facts to judge, DA and juror in a light most favorable to my client.

From Rape cases to Pornography matters, I am highly motivated to help my clients escape potentially harsh treatment that often comes with these types of offenses.

Obviously, the criminal defense aspect of Cannabis Law has been minimized by the ballot initiatives. Still, law enforcement repeatedly bring these cases in certain areas and I am dedicated to fighting for clients AND voters at every opportunity.

Never a high-volume part of my practice but, over the years I have dealt with any number of Embezzlement-type matters for clients in courts throughout Southern California.

This is a low percentage of my practice as many matters are simple enough to handle yourself. However, if you need help getting your record fixed, I can handle it in any courthouse in Southern California.

Another low volume for my office, I have handled several significant juvenile criminal matters and am equipped to deal with any issue in this area of law.

Goals accomplished

I was looking at this site and saw the negative review from the guy whose case was dismissed and I am surprised that he was complaining about a dismissal. I had Mr. McBride deal with a Felony Assault with a Weapon arrest back in 2010 and I was happy with both the result (no conviction on my record) a...nd the service (he immediately presented my issues to a supervising District Attorney). I would use this office again without hesitation as the fee was a fraction of what other lawyers charged for this. Maybe things changed or maybe the other client really had different expectations than I did but, I don't see how you can complain about a dismissal?

Indifference emotion

I was arrested on a restraining order violation. Hired Mr. McBride as my attorney. This was a very, very easy case for ANY attorney to have dismissed. My opponent had removed a critical part of the Judges order in the restraining order which prohibited me from being arrested. When the Sheriffs ...did not see that order, I was arrested. Mr. McBride spoke to the District Attorney assigned to my case and immediately showed the DA the discrepancy in the two restraining orders: One said I could not be arrested (mine and the original courts), the other did not have that page (my opponents he gave to the Sheriff for evidence). The DA immediately asked Mr. McBride, "How do I know your client did not write that himself and stick it in there?" (fair question). Mr. McBride said, "You don't. I don't. Get the original court order and get back to me." When the DA obtained the original court order and saw the original and mine were identical and my opponents copy had that critical page missing, the DA knew immediately that page was removed and, knowing there was no way the DA would win this case, dismissed the case before trial. Easy case to have dismissed before trial. Why so few stars when he won my case? Having Mr. McBride return phone calls was a case in futility. This attorney just NEVER corresponds with his clients. In my case, the first meeting with Mr. McBride and the DA was in November. The case was continued until Dec 18th for the DA to receive the original court order. After December 18, I did call Mr. McBride a couple times, hoping to get an update before the Christmas break. No such luck. I phoned Mr. McBride at least 10 times in January. Never a return call. I phoned Mr. McBride at least 5 times in February until he finally answered his phone. I asked him for an update on my case. He said the case was dismissed back in December. I asked why he didn't call me or send me an email or a text to let me know that it was dismissed. Mr. McBride said, "The court should have done that." No Sir. You're MY attorney. I hired YOU. YOU do that. Not the courts. That's what you get from Mr. McBride. Good luck receiving updates or a courtesy return phone call. I'm sure when Mr. McBride improves on this much needed aspect of his practice, his ratings will dramatically improve as well.

Replied last December 27, 2016

Matt, I just saw your AVVO complaint while I was on my home computer and I want to say that your assessment of the case against you as well as your memory of the case I handled in 2012 are dramatically different than mine. As for your recollection over a year after the fact of the calls that you claim went unanswered during December of 2012 through February of 2013, I can only state that I do not believe that I failed to return any voicemail that you left and I am normally quite happy to speak with clients whose cases I have gotten dismissed. Further, the fact that you unilaterally decided to reduce your monthly payments to $62.50 (I have never before or since had a client send me a check which used a fraction of a dollar) and then discontinue those payments leaving your fees, if I recall, $900 short would have been a topic that I would have loved to discuss with you. So, the further reward that I get after you shorted me 1/2 of what I charged you on a case that I got dismissed is to post THIS claiming that I didn't tell you that your case was dismissed and that getting it dismissed was easy? Since I had to look up your case, I noticed that you got charged with violating the SAME Restraining Order your neighbor got (that our case dealt with in 2012) and I noticed that you had to hire at least 2 separate law firms to resolve that matter. So, here is my question: if there was an obvious problem with the Restraining Order, how did they use it again to file the 2013 charges? This upsets me. It upsets me because at the time that you posted this complaint you had already been fighting a new case on the Restraining Order you claim wasn't valid. It also upsets me because I specifically recall discussing this issue with you back when we talked about the dismissal and I made it clear that I caught tremendous amounts of flack from Deputy DA Hope Morgan (the DDA who I convinced to dismiss your case) after your neighbor raised Holy Hell with her supervisor because the neighbors claimed that you were seen poisoning their plants again. Getting ANY CASE outright dismissed in Orange County is a difficult task whether you recognize it or not and I did EXACTLY what I was hired to do. Honestly, I believe that the OCDA's office would have absolutely gotten a conviction on your matter and I consider your case to be one of the ones that I really "finessed" to get it dropped. It would have been nice if you hadn't "rewarded" me by stiffing me on the fee and attempting to sabotage my business.
