Posted by CHRISTOPHER | February 15, 2019 | Hired Attorney | Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

A botched filing!

I hired Brian to file a chapter 7 in 2017. When you hire a bankruptcy attorney, you assume they understand all the laws according to the county they are practicing in, right? Not Brian! After all was said and done, the back taxes that were supposed to be included in my chapter 7, were not discharged.... You can only discharge taxes from 3 years back. But because I had filed an extension with the IRS, the date I was told by Brian to file was incorrect. He told me that I should file 3 years from the date of acceptance by the IRS. But that was incorrect according to the laws set by the IRS. It should have been 3 years from the extension date. Im now still liable for the taxes, and Brian did nothing to correct the situation, nor offer to refund me for the service I paid him to be an expert in. When you hire someone, you assume they know ALL the laws of bankruptcy. This guy is just pumping out, like a bankruptcy mill, with no attention to details. Thanks for nothing Brian.

Chapter 13 bankruptcy lawyer | Apr 20

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I highly recommend Mr. Soo-Hoo for both Bankruptcy and Personal Injury. Mr. Soo-Hoo provides a wealth of information to his clients and even as a fellow attorney when I have a complex bankruptcy matter that I am having trouble solving, I immediately call Mr. Soo-Hoo for advice. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and well organized, but he is honest and that shows with how discretionary he is in taking on clients. If he says he can help he will, if he says he can't then he will try and find someone who can. You can't go wrong with Mr. Soo-Hoo for your legal needs."

Litigation lawyer | Apr 01

Relationship: Supervised lawyer

"I tried a complicated, multi-week case with Brial Soo-Hoo. He worked tirelessly and courageously throughout the matter, and he held his own against some very cagey veterans on the other side. He was extremely dedicated to the client's cause. I still associate with Brian and he impresses me with his resoursefulness and his willingness to go the extra mile. I would try another case with him without hesitation, and I am pleased to endorse him."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
