Ian Samson is an experienced attorney who focuses on complex business litigation, qui tam (whistleblower) actions, class actions, and personal injury litigation. Mr. Samson represents individuals and business in state and federal court and arbitration.
Prior to joining Engstrom, Lipscomb & Lack, Mr. Samson practiced in San Francisco with a nationwide plaintiff's class action law firm, where he primarily represented individual and institutional investors in securities matters, including federal class actions brought under the Securities Exchange Act and State derivative actions involving Fortune 500 corporations. During that time, Mr. Samson was part of the litigation team representing a class of UBS "structured products" investors in In re Lehman Brothers Equity/Debt Securities Litigation filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Samson graduated cum laude from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, and during law school served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Marsha S. Berzon of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Samson has spoken on various litigation issues, including effective deposition skills and class action notice. He is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the American Bar Association, and Public Justice. In 2013, Mr. Samson was named a "Rising Star" by SuperLawyers.
