Mr Oberstein was the third attorney to help me with my case and ultimately the most knowledgeable about my specific situation. He did what others said could not be done do to my specific charges. It was a 2 step process that Mr Oberstein had to sort out. First was the erroneous/incorrect placement ...by the DOJ. After the creation of the tiered system for 290 registrants I was placed in tier 3 and remained with the requirement of lifetime registration in CA. He was successful in having the DOJ review my case and charges resulting in the correct placement in tier 1. This immediately opened the door to petition the DA for removing my requirement to register. That petition was granted and a huge dark cloud that I created for myself and my family was lifted after 12 years of being 290 registered. To be honest, the process was slow (particularly to get a response from the DOJ) and I lost confidence several times. Mr Oberstein always answered or returned my calls promptly and assured me that my desired outcome was possible and justified. Chance reduced my incarceration deal from 364 days in county jail to no incarceration and 90 days in community labor.
