Unfamiliar with OFAC laws
This attorney claims to be an expert in OFAC and IRS regulation yet she advised me, a United States citizen, to open a bank account in a US sanctioned country, in direct violation of 31 C.F.R. 560.201. Once I contacted a Washington, D.C. law firm that specializes in OFAC matters and was provided wit...
As previously indicated to you in my letter, I do have my LLM in taxation, however, I did not advise you to open a bank account in a sanctioned country and I did not represent you in any taxation law matters. I also indicated to you that I have done a multitude of successful OFAC cases, both general licensing and specific licensing under OFAC regulations, with successful results as well as happy and satisfied clients in all areas of my practice. I have never given illegal advice to you or any of my clients and I follow the law precisely, which is why I’ve had so many successful transactions. You never actually fired me, as you indicated that you will come back and utilize my tax services for this particular transaction or a potential audit. However, you broke our contract for reasons that do not reflect my work as an attorney (maybe you found someone with lower fees?). When you sent me a message asking to refund you, I replied in a timely manner and indicated that I would look into your file and then get back to you. I never said I would not refund your money nor did I ignore your message. Matter of fact, I did offer to refund some of your money even though our contract clearly stated that I was not obligated to do so. I only deducted the time that I had already spent on your case. However, you wrongfully stated in your comment that you “requested the return of the fees” and I'm “withholding your money”. Also, I never said sending me emails are “illegal”. However, I mentioned that your continued and persistent disruption of my business, without allowing for a reasonable time frame for me to get back to you could be considered unlawful. I also indicated to you that if you wrongfully accuse or make false statements about a person, those actions can be considered libel or defamation and thus, charges can be filed against you. Again, I have had many successful OFAC and taxation cases before the U.S. Department of Treasury and the IRS as they are evident and expressed by some of my clients and colleagues testimonies, endorsements and recommendations on various social media.
