Very thorough legal expertise

I found Furubotten law team through the employees assistance program at my place of work. I contacted them and hired them. Denise is very thorough and provided valuable insight on issues that I had not understood.

Communicative, proactive, and listens to me

Ms. Furubotten has been a great asset in my divorce case. She has always clearly explained to me next steps, info needed from me, hearing dates/times, possible outcomes and general information about the laws related to my case. She has respected my wishes on how I wanted to handle certain aspects of ...my case, sometimes against her advice, and has worked with me to direct the case management. She listens to me and understands my viewpoints. She is non-judgemental and has worked diligently to get the best outcome for my case. Her years of experience have been a great help in that she has been able to anticipate next steps by opposing council and we have been able to respond quickly or proactively file necessary paperwork. She is empathetic yet can be tough and strong when needed. I'm glad to have her in my corner.

Straight Shooter with Upfront Pricing.

Denise Furubotten has been practicing family law for 26 years and is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She takes into account whether a decision/motion is worth the clients’ funds and is straight forward about it. So far I’m pleased with how my case is going.

Hang in there - she's worth it!

1 review 5.0 star rating 10/10/2016 Very pleased with Denise and Access Legal Group. She's abrupt and a no BS attorney, because her focus is on your case. She is clearly focused on the final outcome, not holding your hand and telling you it's going to be OK. Skilled legal counsel is costly, and ...while I wish it had cost me less than it did, I got what I paid for. I have been a client for almost 4 years now (which is the fault of the system, not Access Legal), and there were times when I felt defeated, like I was shoveling money out with no progress, frustrated at what Denise was telling me to do, as I, in my infinite legal wisdom was sure was counter-productive, but now after my case is concluded, I can see the wisdom in every step we took. She was careful not to waste my money on fruitless tasks, and focused her actions on what would move my case forward in the most positive and fruitful way.

Horrible

I would never Recommend Denise Furubotten of Access Legal Group. I hired her for my divorce and it was the worst experience of my entire life. I went through over 70,000 dollars and she quit on me when I needed her the most . She was very rude any time I questioned her on anything and whenever I ask...ed her for invoices detailing what she was billing me for she would threaten to quit . She has my money held in her trust account and was ordered to release it by June 10th, 2016 and I have yet to see a penny of that money even though she has been paid in full for any services she performed in regards to my case. Run as far away as you can from her and Access Legal Group.

We don't like it when a client is unhappy with our services and we do everything in our power to make our clients happy. Unfortunately there are times when we can no longer continue to represent certain clients. Attorneys cannot comment about the specifics of a particular client even when a client chooses to post false information about the attorney. I therefore cannot comment on the specific issues with this particular client. What I can say is that we have a long standing policy of using written retainer agreements with every client we represent. These written agreements set forth the obligations of both the attorney and the client. The agreements set forth all details of our billing, representation and termination of our representation. We bill all of our clients monthly and provide invoices to all clients. This is something that is part of our written agreement with all clients. We don't threaten to quit on clients who want detailed invoices. They are entitled to detailed invoices because we have included that right as part of our written agreement with all clients. Concerning money held in trust for any of our clients, we handle all funds pursuant to our written agreements with our clients. In my 20 years of practice I have never been "ordered" by a court to release funds to a client. Clients don't need orders because we follow our written agreements and disperse any funds according to the written agreement with the client. It is often the unfortunate circumstance that some clients do not want to follow the written agreements we have with them. In a situation where the decision is made to stop representing a particular client, the client is always given warning about the particular issues causing problems with continued representation and always offered a chance to resolve those issues directly with our firm. When the issues cannot be resolved and we can no longer act in the best interest of the client, we are ethically required to withdraw from further representation. We do not take those decisions lightly and we do our best to avoid such decisions. In the circumstance where we must withdraw from representation it is not uncommon for the disgruntled client to make demands to our firm that is contrary to our written agreement with the client. Even in that circumstance it is our policy to remind the client of the terms of our written agreement. Attorneys are governed by the State Bar of California and the Business and Professions Code. A disgruntled client may choose to make false claims against me or my firm but my spotless record with the State Bar after 20 years of service to the public speaks for itself and I will let those clients who have given positive reviews of my dedicated and skilled service speak for me.

As a family law attorney and one who opposed Ms. Furubotten in a matter, I can say with authority that Ms. Furubotten is extremely talented, prepared, thorough, knowledgeable, and a fierce advocate for her clients--a rare combination. I would personally use her as my attorney."
