Athar A. Khan

In a time of darkness and uncertainty Mr. Khan was able to provide support in many ways I needed the most. Mr. Khan was reliable being available after hrs and in holidays when time was critical and safety of my family was placed at risk. Without his help, straightforward advice, reliability, and expe...rtise I wouldn't have made the best decisions for my family as a united unit. We met Athar in Jan 2018 with a looming court date in March. My fiance’ was the Petitioner requesting more time with his son. We met with Athar last minute not knowing if having representation would be helpful or not. Within 15 minutes of talking with him we were both very impressed with his knowledg...e and compassion when expressing his views on broken families and going through the family court system. At the end of the meeting he already had the other party on the phone seeing if the other party was open to stay out of trial. Both parties agreed their best interest was to stay out of trial. We moved the trial date out and they started negotiations. What is so unique and I believe a talent of Athar is he is compassionate for both parties. Just because he was hired by my fiance’ did not mean he did not do everything in the other parties best interest and most important for the child’s best interest. He communicated with the other party with kindness and compassion. If you know Athar you can tell this is not his a technique it’s his true personality which is rare to find in a lawyer dealing with family court and difficult parties. After months of trying to come to an agreement, unfortunately it didn’t happen and it was time to prepare for trial. Athar presented everything very professionally and intelligently throughout trial asked the perfect questions to both parties and I believe because we had Athar as our representation my fiance’ was awarded what he was seeking, 50/50 custody. If you are reading this and seeking an attorney for your family court case, I would not miss the chance to schedule an initial meeting with Athar, he will do his best for you and your child! I believe we gained a friend through working with Athar.

(In an effort to save time...I "copied this from my Yelp review of Mr. Kahn. Want to give him the exposure I believe he deserves): 14 years after our divorce was settled, my ex served me with a "Request for Order" asking me to pay her $40K for "un-reimbursed medical expenses" (which, admittedly I... was 50% responsible for paying). The only issue was, I was never (ever) provided a single bill from her. Fast forward...I needed an attorney and spent a # of hours researching them. When I came across Athar (on Yelp at first), I checked him out on other sites (Google, AVVO) and knew he was the lawyer I wanted to talk to. Due to time constraints (on my end) I was almost out of time to respond to the court and basically pinned Athar down to meet with me, late...on a night I could tell he had a couple of other things going on. On top of it all...he remained gracious and accommodating (when I assure you...most in that situation wouldn't have been). The point of the meeting was to make sure I was handling my reply correctly and for him to provide some answers to what, if any, legal exposure I was facing in my upcoming court date. Not only did he answer my questions, but offered to (and did) help me complete my response to the courts (taking up much more time than I know he was expecting and more than I had paid him for). He also had some very "direct" and constructive criticism and advice to offer me (personally) which I appreciated and respected. If that doesn't say enough about the guy...then let me add this. Athar checked his schedule and confirmed he was going to be in the same courthouse at the same time my hearing was scheduled...and he told me if I ran into any problems to contact him and he would step in the help. He is a class act. Plus...the only lawyer I saw to include pics of him with is child (and at the end of the day....in "Family Court"...with real people dealing with real life "stuff", I think having a proud parent, who is also a lawyer, in your corner....matters!!!!)

Athar is super helpful, awesome, very knowledgable about a vast array of subjects , professional and punctual in his dealings, accessible easily by phone or email , focused on getting you the best solution for your problems, and will give you the BEST advice above and beyond your current problems. I ...was lucky to have him on my side when I needed help. Crossed that bridge very smoothly. Highly recommended.
