Nicola works closely with franchisors in the development, structuring and growth of franchise businesses. Services include registration and renewal of Franchise Disclosure Documents, Franchise Agreements and all related documents. For franchisees, we carry out a comprehensive legal and commercial review of a Franchise Disclosure Document and assist you to “follow the money” and ask questions of your potential franchisor, assist in the negotiation of franchise, lease and other agreements.

Nicola has over twenty years of experience in business development, acquisitions, restructuring and redistribution of corporate assets. Commencing her corporate legal career in London in the 80’s, Nicola has represented venture and development capitalists, international joint ventures and target companies in diverse industries. Working both as in-house and out side counsel these experiences bring a wealth of practical business skills and creativity to the legal process.

McDowall Law P.C. also administers the filing and registration of domestic and international trademarks, and counsels clients in trademark licensing, and reputation management online and in social media. For copyrights we handle filings with the Library of Congress e.g. DVDs, CDs and Manuals and for trademarks we have experience in USA registrations and filings with the USPTO Canadian, European Community marks, International Registration under the Madrid Protocol, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia
