Simply the best!

Kasey is the only choice for any member of law enforcement (or really anyone). She is highly knowledgeable about her craft and made sure to take the time to not only make sure I was prepared, but that I understood the process and my rights. Despite her busy schedule, she took the time to make sure ...I felt protected and comfortable. She is the type of lawyer you would trust not only yourself, but your family with!

Wouldn't recommend anyone else

I was represented by Kasey and her firm from early 2015 until early 2017. I was initially assigned to an attorney, who left part way through, due to personal reasons. Kasey picked up my case immediately. Having worked directly with Kasey early on in my case I knew she had just as much if not more kno...wledge of the facts in my case, than my previous attorney. My family and myself went through some of the most stressful times during the time Kasey represented me. Kasey was there whenever I had questions or even when my wife had questions. When we got to trial, her preparation and court demeanor far exceeded the other attorneys who represented my co-defendants. After getting a drastically reduced plea deal after a hung jury, we started preparing to get my job back. After my family and I realized, I did not want my previous job back, Kasey was able to negotiate a settlement which helped me to keep my options open in the future, and a nice monetary settlement. Now that everything is over, I consider Kasey family, and My wife, My children and myself are all moving forward towards a better life.

Use of force case, acquitted on all charges.

“Use of Force case In a Nut-Shell:” On or about September of 2014, I arrested a gang member for two active and violent felony warrants. I was driving into a parking lot, when the suspect saw I was a Police Officer, he immediately began to run. Two other Officers eventually joined me in the foot ch...ase. The foot chase lasted several minutes. We jumped over chain-link fences and brick walls. At the conclusion of the foot chase, I was able to intercept Suspect as he was exiting a small “get-away” gap between a large metal container and a building. As we stood face to face, Suspect refused to “get on the ground” numerous times. Eventually I was able to bring him down to the ground, put him in a rear-twist control hold in an attempt to arrest him. He was not done resisting arrest. As this is happening my partner arrived and “assisted me” to make the arrest, “with no further incident.” Several hours later, a Police Sergeant was notified of a Use of Force incident that occurred during the arrest. Several days later, I was called into the station to speak with Internal Affairs (I.A) investigators. I immediately seek counsel, (Kasey Alyson Castillo). I met with Kasey and told her exactly what occurred and what I saw. Based on my statement, she recommended I provide a “voluntary statement,” to which I had no issue with. I had done nothing wrong. To me, this arrest was “just another arrest.” It was during the voluntary statement that I learned details of what a surveillance camera captured. This camera was mounted on a top corner of a building, only recording from THAT angle. At this point, I was told the suspect was assaulted by my partner. This was in assault that I never saw. I was not worried about what my partner was doing; simply knowing he was there with me, made me feel safe. I repeatedly told the investigators I did not see the assault. After my interview, I was charged with accessory after the fact, Perjury and for filing a false police report. Attorneys: Kasey Castillo, Steve Sanchez, Nikki Naleway Brazney and Tara Collins aggressively began working with my partner’s Attorney Michael Schwartz. Kasey wrote numerous letters to my Police Chief, attended I.A hearings, all in an attempt to save my job, to no avail. Kasey explained in detailed every avenue there was available in my best interest. Kasey and Steve told me what the “worst” and “best” case scenarios I was facing. Kasey offered family support, telling me to share her contact information with my spouse, in case my wife had any questions she could have called Kasey directly. Months and a year went by. At this point, Kasey, Steve, Nikki and Tara had pages after pages of well-prepared written documents. Kasey, Steve and Nikki were always prepared and ready to take on the DA. Steve presented a “995 motion” to have all criminal charges dropped against me do to the lack of evidence. Judge agreed and had the felony perjury charge dismissed. Prior to this dismissal, the District Attorney dismissed the PC 32 in the “best interest of justice.” Now I was faced with the misdemeanor, for filing false police report. Finally, we’re now sitting in a court room. We had our Juror panel patiently waiting for the details to emerge in reference the assault. On 05/23/16, after a few days of court testimony and video evidence the Jury began deliberating. Even though it only took them TWO HOURS to deliberate, it was the worst two hours for me. Sitting outside the court room, with Steve, Steve telling and reassuring me everything was going to be okay. It took Jurors TWO hours to have a NOT GUILTY Verdict. Attorneys, CO-workers, parents, friends, spouses and siblings could not hold their tears and began crying of joy as the verdict was being read. My family and friends are truly blessed with Kasey’s, Steve’s, Nikki’s and Tara’s hard work. THANK YOU Kasey for your hard work.

Very impressive law firm

As the President of the Cathedral City Police Officer's Association, one of my biggest concerns is having competent attorneys representing my members. We signed with GCWH Law not long after they formed and we couldn't be more pleased. They take a proactive approach to keeping executive boards and the...ir members aware of changing case law and other matters that impact us close to home. They have a wide variety of experience and most is derived from working on our side of the law. Mrs. Castillo has provided training for my members during general meetings that was useful and also at a level that non-attorneys could understand. She responds immediately to calls or emails and is eager to assist. Can't say enough positive things about this firm and it's partners and employees.

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
