Jenny L. Doling - Jenny is a State Bar Certified Bankruptcy Specialist and Tax Attorney with an LLM in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law (USD). She is a staunch advocate for Consumer and Debtor Rights, representing clients in personal and business bankruptcy for over 25 years. Ms. Doling has protected thousands of clients from overreaching creditors, collection harassment, wage garnishments, and unlawful foreclosures. She is passionate about her work. She cares about her clients and she offers that strength and clarity during a time when her clients need an advocate the most. She helps to devise an individually tailored plan for every client. Ms. Doling receives approximately 72% of her business from past client referrals and referrals from other attorneys. Ms. Doling believes a referral is the best compliment a business owner can receive. Ms. Doling has been recognized nationally with several consumer advocacy awards. She is a well-known speaker and educator on bankruptcy law and is a Professor of Bankruptcy Law.
In 2023, Ms. Doling was was named a Women of Influence in Law Honoree by the San Diego Business Journal. She serves as the Secretary and board member for the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) and as Vice President and board member for the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum (SDBF). In March 2023, she was appointed by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts to the Judicial Conference Rules Committee in Washington, D.C.. Her speaking engagements have garnered attention nationwide. She has been selected to testify before the House Judiciary Committee of Congress on Student Loan reform. She worked closely with California State Senator Bob Wieckoswki to improve consumer rights legislation. Ms. Doling testified before the California State Senate in August 2020 to help pass AB 1885, California's new homestead exemption. Further, she testified in April 2022 before the California State Senate Appropriations Committee on SB 1099 which further improved California exemptions for consumers.
After practicing in San Diego at an AV rated collection law firm, Ms. Doling returned to the Coachella Valley in 2001 to open her law offices in the Inland Empire. She now practices throughout California. She is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in California and Nevada, including the Supreme Court of California and the Supreme Court of Nevada. In addition, she is admitted to practice before the United States Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals. She received her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in San Diego. Ms. Doling was on the Dean's Honor List and was also the recipient of the Dean's Merit Scholarship. She received an Academic Achievement Award in Bankruptcy and was also honored with an Award for Excellence from the American Bankruptcy Law Journal. Ms. Doling has presented seminars on Judgment Enforcement in California and was formerly a California State Licensed Collection Agent before attending law school, experiences that have helped her to have a unique understanding of how the collection industry works and how she can best use that knowledge to represent her clients in defending their rights against those in credit industry who violate consumer rights.
Ms. Doling received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She practiced criminal defense for nearly 10 years and was a member of the Desert Defenders Conflict Panel for Riverside County, this afforded Ms. Doling extensive and daily court experience. Ms. Doling no longer accepts private criminal law matters but is happy to provide referrals.
