I engaged Tifany Markee on the refiling of i-130 and i-485 for my adopted daughter who is not a US citizen. Our previous petition and application was denied after a long wait of more than two years because my attorney was not familiar with the requirement for our type of case. An i-130 petition for a...n adopted child from a Hague convention country is a very complicated matter and many immigration attorneys are simply not trained for it. I consulted with half a dozen attorneys and I was lucky that I found Tifany. I could tell from our first meeting she knew the subject matter. After that, she was clear about what she needed from me. She always responded quickly, and didn’t sugarcoat the seriousness of the situation. I went through several week’s intense document preparation. Finally, she told me she got everything she needed and sent me documents to sign (we live in different states) saying she could file within 24 hours if she received them back. She did and we met our target deadline. After the refiling, she also worked with my other attorney to amend the original adoption order issued in our state. She provided specific clauses to be included. I was ready to wait for another two long years. But three months later after refiling, we received a RFE notice. Tifany sent in the amended adoption order and a week later, we received the approval notice for i-130. It took me a few weeks to take my daughter to the medical exam required by CIS due to COVID-19. A week after we sent in the medical form i-693 and soon received the approval notice for i-485. The green card arrived several days later. A great attorney makes a difference. In a last-minute surprise, the passports took a day longer to process than we had expected, and we had to get back to LA. Tifany arranged to pick them up on her next visit to the area, and FedEx-ed them up to us, which was really helpful since we were on a pretty tight schedule.
