I am a native San Diegan and I have advised hundreds of clients over the past 31 years in regard to their estate plans and settlement of estates. "A little over 20 years ago, my parents worked with Dan Morrin to create an estate plan. They owned a manufacturing company with approximately 100 employees. Their concern was to preserve their assets and to keep the company viable after their deaths. The problem they faced was the confiscatory 55% estate tax. Dan created an estate plan to discount the amount of estate taxes. When my father died in 2009, the estate taxes became due.
