Margaret A. Dalton is a California licensed attorney and Professor at the University of San Diego School of Law, where she currently serves as Associate Dean. In addition to teaching special education law and skills classes, Dalton supervised the USD Legal Clinics for twelve years, and created the Education & Disability Clinic in 2003. She founded the Special Education Law and Advocacy Series (MCLE programs focusing on special education law), serving as coordinator as well as a presenter. Dalton is a member of the Clinical and Education Committee of the San Diego Center for Children, and participates in the Education Rights Holder Program, a project of the S.D. County Foster Youth Services Advisory Committee. Dalton served two years on the California Office of Administrative Hearings, Special Education Advisory Committee and on the State Bar’s Trust Fund Foundation’s IOLTA Restructuring Task Force. Dalton was named a San Diego County Top Attorney 2015 by the San Diego Transcript. She also has been recognized for her work in education law by the San Diego Law Justice Foundation, the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, and the State Bar of California, among others. She has served as a consultant for the California Judicial Council’s Committee on Access and Fairness, the National Association of Child Advocates, and the California Office of Women’s Health. She has been quoted by U.S. News & World Report, National Public Radio, Los Angeles Daily Journal, and numerous other media.
