I am a Certified Family Law Specialist, certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.  My practice is solely focused on family law issues, including divorce, custody, visitation, complex property characterization and division, child support, spousal support, post-dissolution modification motions, same-sex couple issues, and paternity actions.

My firm strives to provide excellent service, with compassion, and a strong vision for our clients to move forward from their legal challenges as quickly and successfully as possible.

In addition to extensive litigation services, I provide alternative dispute resolution as a neutral or client consultant.  I am trained in collaborative law.  I regularly work with individuals during mediation as a consultant or representative.  In addition to these services, I provide neutral mediation services, where I act as the mediator for both parties.

I am involved in the local family law community and serve on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Family Law Bar Association (SDFLBA)  In 2020, I serve as President of the SDFLBA. I am also on the Board of Women's Financial Academy, a San Diego based non-profit providing financial education to women  

In addition to this, I have a team of trusted professionals, including forensic accountants, therapists, life coaches, tax professionals, financial planners, among others, that assist my clients as they go through the painful and often tedious process of dissolving their marriage or partnership.

Very detailed and professional
Ms. Warren served as our children's minors counsel. Ms. Warren took the time to personally sit down and interview each of the children multiple while she was working to learn our situation. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Ms. Warren should be very excited knowing that they have a smart, sensitive, and hard working attorney. Sadly, we are dealing with a situation where other parties are struggling with severe mental health issues. They are not able to properly care for children. They do seem to be good at abusing and abandoning kids. It is important to protect children and not blame attorneys when you don't get your way.

Highly recommend Colleen Warren
I hired Colleen Warren after my divorce to clean up the mistakes that my ex and I made trying to do it ourselves. She was very responsive, able to assist me, and explained the process. I didn't always like what she had to tell me (especially about me paying my ex alimony), but I trusted her advice. She worked well with my ex and her attorney and we were able to skip going to court altogether. I highly recommend Colleen. Hopefully I won't need an attorney in the future, but if I do, I will definitely hire her again.

Excellent Family Law Attorney
I have been working with Colleen since the beginning of the year and she has provided excellent counsel. When I email or leave a voicemail, she replies with a quick, thorough response. She is very well organized and remembers details of my case. She's provided superb work in and outside of court on a limited scope basis, which has allowed me to save a lot of money. She also is very skilled in working with high-conflict narcissists, like my ex. It is with utmost respect that I endorse Colleen Warren. Her partner, Fran Setzer, works with great expertise as well. I highly recommend the firm for even the most complex family law cases.

Intelligent, inuitive and caring
Colleen was highly recommended to me by a friend. I was nervous about the whole divorce and custody process until I met Colleen. After informing her of my situation, during our first consultation, her inuition into my husband's businesses and finances were surprisingly spot on. There were various emails and phone conversations during the mediation and settlement phases of my divorce. The costs were fair and reasonable. She was always there to provide the information that I needed to keep myself and my children safe and financially secure. She is very intelligent and knows the laws. I never felt pressured to litigate, although I knew this was an option and she would be there. I could not have made it through this without her. I highly recommend Colleen. Thank you!!

Smart, responsive and effective
Colleen is highly specialized in her field and very intelligent. She is thoughtful and responsive. She will be direct about actions, projected outcomes and helping you weigh options. She's been fantastic to work with, and I have nothing best the best to say about her and staff.

Colleen is Spectacular, Knowledgable, Caring, And Clever. I'm so glad she was my attorney.
I had a situation with my ex-husband, that was taking its toll on me. I had been divorced for a number of years, but wasn't receiving the support that was part of the MSA. I had been sympathetic to the financial problems of the prior few years, but I finally couldn't go any further, I felt bullied, and taken advantage of by my ex. Then I found Colleen through a referral from a friend. Colleen made my life so easy. We met, we talked, she crafted an approach to deal with the situation that was reasonable for everyone. She met with my Ex, explained the process, the upside and the downside, for him. She brought him to realize that it was in his best interest to resolve the matter, without creating any additional animosity that always seems to come with divorce. Her ability to resolve my matter, came quickly, easily and efficiently, so that both parties were able to agree and resolve the issues. She is truly a mediator in the strongest terms. she had an excellent reputation before I met her, and that reputation withstood, and exceeded my expectations. I only wish I had her to begin with, years ago.

Excellent and honest attorney

A Lawyer who cares and works for her clients
Attorney Colleen Warren helped me with my tedious divorce with kindness and respect. She was well aware of the laws and what would be best for me. A Divorce is a very delicate and stressful time in anyone's life and she handled both myself and my husband with the utmost respect. She worked very well with my husband's attorney. She was more than fair with both of us, even my husband was very impressed with her ability to give both of us a fair and equitable settlement. As stated above she is very trustworthy, she is very knowledgeable, kept me informed and was responsive. My concerns were always met. Our divorce entailed property settlements, spousal support, child support and other financial issues. I would and have referred friends to Ms. Warren and will continue to do so as she is very competent and supportive of one's needs.

Great job with my messy divorce
Colleen was great with my messy divorce. My ex and I were fighting a lot & attorney fees were climbing. I was referred to Colleen by my marriage counselor and she did a great job. She took over the case for me, got us to the settlement table, and worked really hard to resolve all of the issues. She worked well with my ex's attorney, and now we are finished. I am happy with the settlement Colleen proposed and the fighting has stopped. I would highly recommend Colleen if you are going through a divorce. This was a horrible experience, but Colleen kept a level head and always had the endgame in sight.

I would recommend this attorney
Colleen did an excellent job for me in my divorce case. I didn't know what to expect and she explained everything to me. I left her office feeling like I could breath for the first time since I was served with divorce papers. We are already working on resolving the case with my husband's attorney (who has also been excellent) and I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. And, everyone at her office is wonderful and easy to work with.

The Best There Is!
I hired Colleen Warren to represent me in a custody issue after my ex and I had divorced. I was so afraid that I was going to lose my children, but Colleen was so reassuring in our first meeting that I felt much better. Colleen tried to settle the case, but my ex was unreasonable. We went to court and Colleen was amazing. The Judge ruled exactly how Colleen anticipated, and I did not lose my children! I would recommend Colleen in any family law case. She is the best!

Great divorce attorney
Colleen Warren is a great attorney who did an amazing job on my divorce. My ex and I fought pretty hard with one another, but Colleen was able to keep the peace and keep the case focused on the important issues. We had a business and several homes that needed to be appraised and she was able to make great recommendations on who to hire. This was a great benefit to me when it came time to go to trial over the homes and business, as the judge listened to our side of the case. Her knowledge of the law is second to none and I think even my ex's attorney was impressed with her depth of understanding and attention to detail. I know I certainly was impressed. Overall, Colleen was a superb representative and I would recommend her to anyone needing a divorce attorney.

Excellent Attorney
I have been a client of Colleen Warren for over two years. I first hired her for my divorce. She was very good at explaining the process for me, holding my hand when I needed it, and gave me the right advice. Colleen was able to settle my divorce case with my wife's attorney, but she took the lead during our settlement negotiations at court (I forget what it is called, but the meeting when we try to settle the case with another attorney). After the divorce was finished, my ex took me back to court to change custody and support. I went back to Colleen and she was awesome. With her help, I kept my visitation with the kids, and the amount I paid for support to my ex went down! She was able to find the income my ex-wife was trying to find and argued effectively to the court. Hopefully I won't need her again, but if I do, I will definitely hire her. I would highly recommend Colleen to anyone that needs a divorce attorney.

Colleen Warren handled my divorce with professionalism, courtesy to both parties, and an understanding like no one else
I attained Colleen Warren not only as a Divorce attorney, but also as mediator for both sides of the divorce, which was agreed by both parties involved. I could have not asked or expected more from Colleen. She was always very professional, and kept focused on the initial settlement of the divorce. Although she was my Attorney, she was very considerate of the other party as agreed from the beginning, and made the process for both of very smooth and with ease.I would highly recommend Colleen to anyone in need of her services.

WARREN "WARNING" !!!!!!!!!!
I retained Ms. Warren for my divorce 2 years ago, spent over $16k for a bunch of emails and to watch her inability to properly "Go to Bat" with attorneys triple her experience to defend me. It was a joke watching her ummm and ahhhh and unable to respond through court hearings. I ended up FIRING her and having to re-hire an attorney with 26yrs of experience. Not knowing any better, going through a horrible divorce and no prior experience with hiring attorneys, your life is in their hands. Ms. Warren stumbled through every hearing showing her incompetence and proof of this was when she told me after my very first court hearing that " You are going to have to sell your house " Really?!?! From the start without properly knowing how to defend me, it was obvious she was out of her league and unable to compete. Her lack of experience was one thing, but her billing for every single call/email was stellar. So if you want to lose ALL your money for emails, to only then have to hire someone else with MORE experience you can but I will never ever recommend hiring her. It's sad that people like me put all your faith, trust and money into someone who will claim that they can help you even though knowing it's beyond their expertise. I hope my bad luck with Ms. Warren would help someone else think twice about hiring her.

Everyone at Lewis, Warren & Setzer, LLP takes great pride in providing each and every one of our clients with exceptional legal services. Ms. Warren and the other members of our firm are confident in the services provided to this former client. Without going into details, this reviewer is untruthful and we dispute the information provided. This client’s case required numerous hearings, negotiations, and extensive discovery. It involved several detailed issues, which required work by Ms. Warren and her staff. This client was aware of all charges he would incur for all services performed. While he had ample opportunity to come to some agreement with our firm regarding his fees previously paid and those which were outstanding at the time our representation of him ended, he chose not to do so. As a result of this former client's failure to meet his contractual obligation to our firm, we obtained a judgment against him for sums that remain outstanding. We believe this review is this former client’s way to retaliate against our obtaining a legally valid and binding judgment. While it is unfortunate that he feels disparaging Ms. Warren’s legal reputation is a good way to solve his legal problems, this former client’s review is not an accurate portrayal of the services we provide. Ms. Warren and everyone at Lewis, Warren & Setzer, LLP strive to provide aggressive and compassionate counsel to our clients. We work diligently to assist those people going through an extremely difficult time in their lives, while ensuring their legal rights are protected.
