Hello to the student nurses or graduated nursing students whos looking at this review. I know if you are on this site then you are in the same situation I was in and Im glad you are taking initiative to take the next step. When I found Nicole Irmer, I was still just a student. I had a criminal recor...d of a misdemeaner hit and run and we all know how hard the CA BRN takes criminal records. I was filled with so much anxiety and worry because I heard that I could be possibly denied for a license. Imagine.. Going through two years of nursing school, Going through all the tears and stress, graduating and finding out that you wont be able to take the NCLEX becuase of a mistake years ago. I was filled with such anxiety. Luckily i found Nicole Irmer through Avvo after searching through alot of other lawyers and I explained my entire situation to her. She was honest and forward about the possible results and thats what I really respected. One thing to understand for those who are interested in hiring Nicole is that, depending on your case, you may hear from Nicoles wonderful assistant Kimberly more often than Nicole. Please do not think that Nicole is not taking your case seriously. Kimberly is a wonderful person who always kept me in the loop in regards to my case and when I received the final documents to send to the BRN, I could see how much effort Nicole put in my case. Her work was so personalized towards my case that it could not have been a "copy and paste" type of report. This is an incredible stressful time for anyone in my similar situation and Nicole and Kimberly are the perfect people to handle BRN related cases. I am pleased to say that I will be taking the NCLEX with no disciplinary issues on my license and its all thanks to Nicole and Kimberly. I was kind of late when I called Mis Irmer about my case( 3 weeks to the due date of interviewing with the California Board). Nicole and Kimberly were absolutely amazing. I knew from the moment I had a consult with Kimberly (her assistant) on the phone, that they were the team I needed. During my consult with Kimberly, she was able to answer ALL of my questions about what would happen if I were to receive probation on my ...nursing license in California because of getting a DUI. Would I have to stay in California? Could I be a nurse in California on probation? As a traveling nurse, these answers were essential, and many other consults could not tell me if I would have to stay in California or not. As it turns out, if an RN in CA receives probation on their nursing license, they DO have to complete this probation in CA, and it is very intense. I did what I had to do and obtained a permanent job in CA before self-reporting to the board, and then did everything Nicole and Kimberly told me to do to prepare a proper mitigation package to self-report my DUI to the board of nursing. What NO OTHER consulting lawyer told me is how CRITICAL the self-reporting process is in preventing probation on your nursing license after a DUI. It is literally the most important part of the process and can prevent probation. Kimberly made this very clear during the consult and emphasized retaining a lawyer early is key, in order to have enough time to prepare all the material for the self reporting document. I retained Nicole instantly and began to complete everything on her lengthy and thorough checklist of what is recommended for a self-reporting package. Kimberly and Nicole were readily available for any questions and recommendations on the documents I provided to defend my nursing license. Nicole analyzed all my documents and helped me produce a mitigation package that allowed me to receive a citation, NOT probation. It was incredible amount of work but worth it all. Meanwhile, Kimberly is as sweet as can be when answering all of my questions in the nervous, anxious state that I was in. This was an amazing team and I highly recommend them to any RN in California who receives a DUI.
