I specialize in complex litigation, with a focus in appellate litigation in the California Court of Appeal, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the New York courts. I also work with trial counsel and provide strategic counseling on a variety of trial practice and appellate litigation matters.
I have signigicant appellate experience, including a clerkship on the Ninth Circuit, as principal author of more than fifteen appellate briefs, writs, and petitions for review, and numerous appellate arguments. I also have extensive experience litigating California consumer class actions at the trial and appellate levels.
In the business litigation arena, my experience includes California business torts, health care law, employment matters, contracts, constitutional law, civil procedure issues, patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade dress, trade secrets, unfair competition, commercial fraud, insurance, securities matters, and claims against public entities.
In the criminal and immigration arenas, I have litigated civil rights claims, juvenile delinquency matters, habeas claims under the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act (AEDPA), Fourth Amendment search and seizure issues, Sixth Amendment jury trial and sentencing issues, Eighth Amendment claims for access to medical treatment, and various immigration claims, including asylum, cancellation of removal, and claims of fraud and ineffective assistance of counsel.
