Assigned Counsel on Appeal do not try to help
Mr. Spencer was assigned counsel to me on appeal (at no cost). After not returning my calls for 3 weeks to discuss possible appellate issues I decided to represent myself. Mr. Spencer did file a Wende brief on my behalf -- though I wouldn't recommend doing that for any appeal.
"Mr. Spencer is an outstanding lawyer. The expertise he has acquired through his many years of practice crosses into several different areas of law, and he expertly handles a variety of different cases. He and I work together on occasion because I can trust him to argue for our clients and reach the best possible outcome. I wholeheartedly endorse him."
