A Certified Family Law Specialist, or CFLS, is an attorney who has obtained certification in the standards of California family law and demonstrated optimal legal competence. Attorneys who obtain this certification have specific expertise in all aspects of family law, which includes divorce or the dissolution of marriage, child and spousal support, child custody, and temporary restraining orders, among other areas of emphasis. Not every attorney practicing family law has obtained this certification. In fact, the designation remains relatively rare—there are fewer than 2,000 CFLS attorneys in California and fewer than 200 in San Diego.

Jane is an outstanding divorce attorney. Attention to detail and timely responses were much appreciated. We did not agree on everything, yet Jane always had my best interest. No one wins in divorce, and Jane made the process slightly less painful. I highly recommend her services.

Jane kept a 'simple' matter simple!

We wanted to end a no longer applicable Prenuptial Agreement and Jane walked through the process, helping us avoid the traps and pitfalls. She helped us connect with a second attorney who made sure the whole process was arms-length. Jane's careful explanations were very helpful in what appeared to be a difficult and daunting chore, and we really appreciate her skills and approach.

One of the best Family Law Attorney's ever

Jane helped me with my two divorces. While I was going through one of the most difficult seasons of my life, Jane made me feel seen and heard. She helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel and was there for me every step of the way. Obviously, when you are going through a divorce and have minor children, there are a lot of emotions and logistics to work through. Jane did this all for me. She took the burden of figuring out how my life was going to look post-marriage away from me. Jane is a very intelligent, well-versed family law attorney and made sure I was getting what I was entitled to. She strives to settle but will fight for you when necessary. I can't speak highly enough about Jane and all she has done for me over the years. I hope I don't go through anything like this again, but if I did, Jane would be the first and only person I call. Jane Wesley Brooks

Going through a divorce is one of the most overwhelming and emotional times in your life. The unknown can create an unbelievable amount of anxiety for all involved. Jane had a calming effect on me during our initial meeting that helped put things in better perspective. She did a wonderful job of explaining how the dissolution process works and the formulas that go into determining things like support and custody arrangements. Jane is also a big advocate for trying to settle things as reasonably as possible for both sides. Having consulted a couple of other firms, I felt this was a refreshing approach that would hopefully save us thousands in attorney fees. My case fortunately only required one appearance in court and I think in large part that was because Jane was more organized and well versed in some of the special circumstances of our situation than the other legal team. She knows her craft and it was very apparent that day. Divorce is a monumental upheaval for many families. I am thankful to Jane and her team for their expertise, clear communication and calm demeanor throughout my case. I truly believe I was able to start moving on sooner than later because I had the right team managing this unfortunate time in my life.

Superstar Lawyer

My nightmare situation started with my ex not sharing time with my son. She would keep him outside of our agreement and dared me to get an attorney. Jane Wesley Brooks gave me a free initial consultation and after careful consideration, I decided to take a leap of faith and fight for my legal right to see my son. My ex-hired an attorney who was not prepared to deal with Jane. When we came to our day in court after several failed attempts to come to an agreement before. Jane had a notebook full of evidence the other attorney had nothing. When at court we still could not come to an agreement Jane said lets get going and stop with negotiations. At this point opposing council asked to meet with the judge in person. I was given EVERYTHING that I was asking for. Getting a lawyer is not cheap but if you're going to fight for your right get the best. You do not want to be on the other side going up against Jane I can promise you that. She is 5 out of 5 stars and I have now created amazing memories with my son.

The BEST Family Law Attorney in California

My Ex retained an attorney who counseled him not to disclose a felony drug conviction and filed false abduction charges against me and my parents. I retained Jane who found the non disclosed felony, and other criminal behavior and was able to get sole custody of my daughter. After two and a half years of litigation this nightmare is concluded. Jane and her staff went above and beyond for us in this most unprecedented case. They were diligent in their communication and support during this horrendous ordeal. They are the Best of the Best!!

Jane to my Rescue...Again

I had just gotten married in January 2015 and was very happy for 11 days before my wife showed her completely sociopathic behavior. The 4.5 month train wreck of complete lies, fabricated stories, false accusations, constant threats, manipulation, prison style monitoring and control, and criminal style interrogations by my ex on every facet of my life, past and present, became my second go around with Jane as my attorney after I was a victim of domestic violence in May. And what can I say...Jane maneuvered everything perfectly and had the case do a complete 180, whereas my ex had been asking for twice the amount I originally offered for her to walk away. When she turned down the offer, Jane turned up the heat and now my ex is paying me. I am still out money overall, but without Jane, it would have been so much worse. Thank you, Jane. You saved me AGAIN!! :)
