Giacomo Jacques Behar

We met Giacomo when my sister and I went to the local Customs And Border Protection's Deferred Inspection office in San Diego. We witnessed how he successfully resolved his client's problem by engaging in persuasive advocacy of his client's case. Since the many years I lived in the US I dealt with ...many good immigration lawyers, but never before had I witnessed such excellent advocacy as that of Giacomo. He managed to resolve the client's rather complex issues with CBP, while explaining everything to her in Italian and trying to keep calm and optimistic. He was a joy to watch and listen to. He was funny, engaging, compassionate, while at the same very knowledgeable and highly professional, a combination of qualities you rarely see in a lawyer. With incredible ease and fluidity he was switching from one language to another by addressing various groups and families sitting in the waiting area and answering their questions and orienting them on how to seek help from CBP. I then asked for his business card, and 2 days later I was sitting in his office to discuss my sister's case, for which we were unable to obtain resolution from CBP by ourselves. During the consultation we had in his office, Giacomo answered each and every one of our questions and was very understanding, and again super knowledgeable. My sister and I were impressed and decided to hire him on the spot. In the days that ensued Giacomo took her to CBP, this time as her attorney, pointed out the error with her admission and within minutes obtained her 3 more months to remain in the USA, with a corrected "Nunc Pro Tunc" admission stamp - here it should be noted that when we were there last time, alone and unrepresented by Giacomo, CBP simply sent us away, and asked us to file a request of extension of stay...with USCIS.. Absurd! Having come to know Giacomo reassured us so much, given my sister so much peace of mind, that we now decided to entrust Giacomo and his office with my sister's entire immigration case. I would like to add that Giacomo possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of the law, as well as the history and geopolitics of most, if not all countries and regional conflicts of the entire map of the world. Both my and my sister are very happy to have Giacomo as my sister's attorney, we believe in him completely and are confident that having an attorney like him will assure the successful outcome of my sister's case.

Mr. Giacomo was our family immigration lawyer for almost 7 years. I was referred to him by a friend of a friend who told us so many good stories about what he did for our close-knit Italian community here over the decade or so. Until today when we finally got our green cards in the mail Giacomo sai...led us through no less than 5 H-1B visas with 4 employers, 4 Labor applications and 4 I-140 applications to immigration. Each time I changed jobs and had a new employer I made it a point to insist as part of my contract that it would be Mr. Giacomo who would handle all our family immigration matters. Time after time, when sometimes things looked so difficult and even desperate, Giacomo tirelessly worked at it. Always with creative actions and ideas. To fight off "Ability to Pay" RFIs he engaged the best outside experts (tax attorney, bookkeeper), tirelessly educated them on the idiosyncrasies of Dept of labor and Immigration and helped them produce beautiful expert opinion letters and opinions that tipped off the balance in employers favour. (On one occasion he even paid one tax lawyer out of his pocket and it was only later that I learned it from employer who Giacomo asked not to tell) Me my wife and two daughters are never going to forget what Mr. Giacomo (and his lovely wife and partner Mrs. Tatiana) did for us over the years. They are part of our family forever. We expect them to be at our dinner table as our most honored guests every holiday, whenever they are not travelling! We intend to give them a great city tour of Florence at the end of this month.
