As with all family attorneys you better manage your attorney. This firm, and Carlos, will run up the bill! He is an incredibly egotistical and unprofessional attorney. If things don’t go his way he throws a tantrum akin to a child. The fact that he is a managing attorney is flabbergasting, until... you realize the firm is all about the money. He will sell you down the river with opposing counsel the first chance he gets. He showed up at a hearing asking me why we were there! He is intelligent but once his fragile ego is wounded he capitulates. During the initial consult he represented himself as complete superior to opposing counsel and would make quick work. Instead he got completely humiliated in the court room, even having the advantage of statue and case law, and lost. He lost an objection that has years of case law and Supreme Court precedent, Inexcusable. After that it was all down hill and he essentially gave up and wanted me to agree to a completely one sided settlement. Don’t walk, but run.

Simply the best…… Carlos Tavares is the best attorney ever! Divorce is hard enough add three young children and it gets ever harder. Carlos always put my children first. I recently hired Mr. Tavares for a child custody case. He quickly lived up to his reputation as an aggressive but fair lawyer. Mr. Tavares collected the background for my case and determined the relevant information. He wrote my declaration with my input, ensuring the declaration was applicable bu...t not emotional. His defense in the courtroom was similar - aggressive, factual, and pertinent. Prior to mediation and prior to the trial, Mr. Tavares worked with me to review probable questions from the mediator or opposing attorney respectively. In particular, he insisted we review difficult topics. He was purposely hard on me in order to prepare for the actual events. Mr. Tavares clearly is driven to do what is in the best interest of the child. He also never gives his clients false hope. He was honest throughout the process. He let me know when events had not gone in my favor. I appreciated the honest feedback vice false hope. That being said, Mr. Tavares successfully won my case.
