I am certified by the State Bar of California as a specialist in Workers' Compensation Law.  I have 24 years of experience representing injured workers.  
 
In January 1993 I launched my law practice.  I specifically limited my law practice to representing injured workers and persons injured in non-work-related accidents.  The majority of my clients have continually been injured workers from north San Diego County, including Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Fallbrook, Valley Center, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Poway, and the city of San Diego.  This caused me to further specialize by limiting my practice exclusively to representing injured workers.  In 2002 I became certified as a specialist in workers' compensation law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
 
From 2005 to 2013 I was the chairman of the workers' compensation section of the North San Diego County Bar Association.  After taking a short break from his duties as the chairman, in October 2015 I  became co-chairman.  As of January 2017 I resumed my position as chairman.

 

 

 

I was an associate attorney in the North Hollywood office of Mercer & Zinder.  We represented general liability insurance firms by providing legal defense for their insureds.  I participated in litigation involving products liability and premises liability.
 
In 1989 I received my Juris Doctor from Western State University, College of Law in Fullerton, California.  I took and passed the California State Bar in February 1990.  I have been practicing in good standing continually through the present.
 
In 1984 I received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University Long Beach.  I worked for McDonnell-Douglas in Long Beach, California, designing manufacturing tooling and equipment for commercial aircraft.  I was also involved advanced design of primary and secondary aircraft structures using carbon graphite.  This background qualified me to take and pass the Patent Bar in 1990.  Starting in 1978 Iworked for several Los Angeles-based companies designing machines, aircraft ground support equipment and production mechanical tooling.  
 
This background has given me insight into work environments from ranging from office to manufacturing.  This insight is very useful when representing injured workers.  I have helped in excess of 2,800 injured workers since I launched my law practice.  Most of my clients are referrals from the many injured workers I have represented over the years.  They continually refer their family and friends to me.

I made the best decision when switching to Manuel he and his team helped me with any questions and helped guide me through the process. The process at times was difficult to go through and I was fully supported through the process.

Grateful for Mr. Rodriguez who got me a great settlement!
I was referred to Mr. Rodriguez by a psychologist for a stress claim. I met with him and he explained to me exactly what the next steps would be and what I should do to be prepared. He was very professional and made sure I understood everything. Though his staff was extremely busy, they always made sure to return my phone calls and answer any questions I had in a timely manner - usually the next day. I must say a special thanks to Carol who, though I was frustrated by the process at first, was very courteous and professional to me and made sure to return my emails with a phone call - not just an impersonal email - and she made sure I understood the process and answered all my questions. Because of Mr. Rodriguez fighting for me, I got a much bigger settlement than originally proposed by the company. Mr. Rodriguez personally called me as well to keep me informed of the settlement process. One thing I've learned about Work Comp attorneys is that they are not in it for the money. They do it because they believe in a cause and want to fight for those who would normally not have a voice against bigger companies. It seems to me like a thankless job. I am grateful for Mr. Rodriguez for my settlement because part of the settlement included a stipend to go back to school to be re-trained in a different career. I would have never had this opportunity were it not for Mr. Rodriguez, Carol and the entire team. Thank you!

Mr. Rodriguez Jr. arranged for me to see a more pro-worker physician. Mr. Rodriguez also convinced the insurance company to give me more physical therapy appiontments. Mr. Rodriguez negotiated a settlement with the insurance company. Without his assistance, none of the above would have happened.

Mr. Rodriguez was an incredible help to me back in 2015. He and his staff had the professionalism and patience to take care of me until the end. I was one of those clients that called with questions a lot. It frustrated me that I had no idea what was going on. This is the worst ever!!!
he does not keep me informed Does try and end this case Really doesn't care about hoe stressed I am Doesn't care about my financial situation at all I have no money The case is taking way to long He does not understand how this is affecting me or care about it... I keep telling him I just want it over with..

W/C is a very complicated and technically intense practice. Many of the issues are difficult for attorneys and judges to understand. It is even more difficult for our clients. As a consequence, clients at times feel uninformed. The fact is that some cases require a lot of work-up to secure an appropriate recovery for the injured worker. The more work-up that is required, the longer the case can take to resolve. W/C attorneys do not get a fee on the resolution of a case until the case is resolved. For this reason, I want to resolve all my cases as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, there are cases that require more work-up and time. Those cases costs me more in office and staff expenses. However, I take the time to do the extra work, and incur the additional expenses, whenever such is required to get my client an appropriate recovery.

not professional lawyer
Mr Rodriguez says that he has a lot of cases,basically says he's the best , the question is can you handle them all? because I think as a professional he should have time for clients concerns and questions I hired him about 7 months ago only have spoken to him once and. he had a really bad attitude, rude overall I would not recommend him he's unprofessional to me, and I am looking foward to replace him as well.

Our workers' compensation community of attorneys is filled with very fine attorneys who work had and get great results for their clients. In the midst of these attorneys, I would never claim to be the best. However, I will alway say that I will do my best. Very rarely I get a client who decides to be rude to me and my staff. I would much rather have that person get a new attorney.

Choose another attorney.
Mr. Rodriguez and his staff go out of their way to ignore your requests for information on the status of your case. He and his staff are rude and unprofessional. Will not return phone calls or emails. After three years of prolonged negotiation with insurance companies, not of which I was kept informed of, my case settled. He still has not filed satisfaction of judgment with the court which continues to give me problems these years later. Never hired Mr. Rodriguez. Was forwarded to him when my original workers comp attorney had to close his practice after receiving a judgeship.

This is one of over 70 cases that were referred to me by a local attorney who is now a W/C judge. W/C does not provide for the filing of a Satisfaction of Judgement. I have represented over 3,000 injured workers in the past 23 years. The grand majority of my referrals come from previous clients because they have been satisfied by my work. For that reason, I have the luxury of no having to spend money advertising. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone.

poor secretary service that reflects on Mr Rodriquez
Spoke to Rocio she was short and seems she has no clue as to what she's talking about. She doesn't know how to answer questions. I have known Manuel for years back when he had a reliable and actually new what she was doing secretaty / do it all ....... she responded and was always polite. I left Manuel a message knowing he could not take my case I still let Rocio know I trust Manuel's opinion and I needed legal advice from someone I could trust. She said she would not give him the message because he had already said he would not take my case. I tried to make her understand that I have known Manuel for years but she didn't even care to hear me out. Even though I hace sent many peiple to him including my daughter to date. I will not be calling him back I blame him for horrible service for hiring unreliable lazy help.

Rosio communicated your message to me in great detail, as she does every time someone calls seeking a consultation with me. In your specific case, I simply did not give her permission to schedule an appointment for you. I do not accept every case that is presented to me. I appreciate that you have told your daughter, and other injured workers, about me and the help I can provide to them. I always ask my clients to tell their family and friends about me if they are injured at work and need an attorney. The grand majority of my cases come from referrals from my past clients. However, as in your case, there will be times when I cannot accept a case and I must refer the caller to another attorney. I am sorry that your experience with Rosio was not to your liking. Rosio is a very well educated and highly trained paralegal, with a big heart and eager to help whenever we get a call asking for a consultation. She follows my instructions very carefully. She knows that she is not allowed to give legal advice, and as such, she cannot answer questions that should be properly asked of the attorney you ultimately retain in your particular case. It is not that she does not have a clue, it is that she knows better. I am sorry that your experience prompted you to post this negative comment about us. I hope that this comment clears up any misunderstanding. Good luck with your case.
