I contacted Amanda on the recommendation of Elizabeth Jamison, a lawyer formerly from San Diego, for whom I have a great deal of respect. I had been paying spousal support for more than 18 years for a marriage that lasted 15 years, and the loss of my job was imminent due to the pending closure of th...e plant where I worked. Being in my early 60's, the prospect of finding comparable employment locally was extremely remote. I needed a final resolution to avoid the potential of paying spousal support for the remainder of my life which would force me to uproot my wife and myself from my home of 28 years and search for employment elsewhere, solely to be able to continue paying spousal support, something I felt I could not do on my pension.
