What lawyers are supposed to be

Mr. Dyson represented me in a contract case where the other party decided years after the term of our engagement that she was owed money. This was lawsuit obviously motivated by a desire for financial gain based on no legal or moral grounds. Plus, the angle of their lawsuit attacked my character as... a means toward settlement. It was a potential emotional minefield. I started with another lawyer on the case who almost immediately got sucked into the melodrama and my bills went up fast. I fired him because I saw disaster ahead. I discussed the case with Phil and felt reassured about him providing me with intelligent, cool-headed representation in the face of overheated opposition. Phil negotiated with the other side in quite brilliantly, with integrity, in good faith, steadfastly standing for me and the truth as I saw it, and without ever permitting emotionality to dominate (even when I got tense). He was always a gentleman with the opposing party, even when they were nasty with their accusations. He prepared me and rehearsed me for the hearing so I could hold my own on the stand during a fairly vitriolic examination by the other side. And he has always made sure I understand, in plain English, all the possibilities and choices associated with my case. I never feel left in the dark and I always feel empowered as a client. Frankly, the case is petty. But Phil manages to restore dignity to all parties in the matter when he steps in. That's pretty cool, especially considering how my first lawyer just kinda joined the spitball fight and lowered everybody in the process. The case still has not settled at the outcome we are pursuing (it's been many months). We're on our way and I can already see the handwriting on the wall and know this case is on its way to a good resolution. Nonetheless, Phil's integrity and expertise, coupled with his care and person-to-person straightforwardness, impresses me enough that I can write a review right now. I can predict the outcome of my case but even if I was wrong, the way Phil handled it remains the same and I'm really impressed and pleased. I've dealt with more attorneys in my lifetime than I would have wanted to, from custody cases to business litigation. Without qualification, I would trust Phil with any case within the range of his professional capabilities. I am equally certain that if he couldn't do a great job on a case for me, he'd tell me without hesitation. I trust this guy as my lawyer, legal expert, and person. That's really valuable to me! Oh, and when Phil didn't know something he needed for the case, or there was research he wished he had, he was dogged about obtaining the information or even learning what he needed to increase his own knowledge. This is a guy smart enough to say, "I don't know" when he doesn't, and smarter still to go find out. I felt enormously served and reassured by that kind of honesty in Mr. Dyson. It's kind of amazing to me in this day and age that I can write an enthusiastic review of an attorney, but there you have it. I'm sure it sounds corny, but Phil is what I always thought lawyers were supposed to be (kind of Jimmy Stewart-esque, you know). I hate the courtroom and lawsuits, but I genuinely appreciate this attorney.

Outstanding Service from a Phenomenal Attorney

Attorney Phil Dyson’s great attribute as an attorney is his follow through, providing thorough, responsive communications to us about the legal tasks required during the course of our proceedings. Phil listened, was empathetic, yet frank. Phil did whatever it took for me to understand the process and... all the steps we would take together.
