Vanessa Betryna Gnekow

I do not recommend Vanessa Gnekow as an Attorney. I hired her to represent me in divorce case and civil case mediation. I did not have much money and was told I could pay retainer and pay the rest of what I owed when trial completed and I sold my equitable portion of my two homes from family trial. W...e had two separate contracts. I paid her $5,000 as a down payment retainer for Family case and $3000 to handle civil mediation. The statement I received from her office at the end of April 2015 was a combined statement showing all work provided by her firm. It was very difficult to show what case had what billing. But it showed combining the deposits as $8000 paid leaving just and over $5000 still owed on $13,000 worth of billing. We completed the Civil Case in March 2015 at mediation and had a family trial set for July 2015. After receiving bill in April she told me she would not represent me at family trial unless I sold my house. Problem is the mediation failed when the other side refused to release title so I could not sell my home, because it was not in my name as I was told by her it would when I signed mediation agreement. So she continued to blackmail me for payment about representation in family case so I released her on May 8, 2016. On May 22 she said I needed to sign another form releasing her from Civil Case, when I told her that the case ended at mediation, she told me no and that she was working behind my back to finish final with other Attorney’s. When I went to court the Judge forced me to sign mediation agreement at family case as it was written in July and not what I had agreed to at mediation settlement. She did not keep me informed as to her actions, and did not continue helping me with Family case. It has been recommended by other attorneys to report Vanessa to the State Bar for her unethical actions. As I said I owed just over $5000 at the end of April, she started sending me invoices with no breakdown saying that I owed her another $14,000. Does that mean he billed me for another $9000 after I fired her? Beware of her work and contracts.

I was introduced to Vanessa Gnekow through my girlfriend's attorney who was not comfortable taking on such a sensitive custody case. She said she felt that Ms. Gnekow would be better suited for such a "tough, heart-wrenching and emotional battle." From the minute we met with Vanessa we were certain s...he was the best lawyer for the job. Mine was a specific and quite drastic case of child alienation. My parental rights were systematically being stripped from me due to previously misleading and inaccurate legal advice. That, combined with circumstance and unprofessional representation, caused for a very negative agreement ordered by the court. Filing for this RFO and changing the course of my children's current path away from me, meant absolutely everything to me...but I didn't know where to begin. I had already spent thousands of dollars previously in attorney fees, been through an emotional roller cosater…yet, to no avail. This was a make or break case for me. All or nothing. I was being kept from my 3 children and there was nothing my ex-spouse wouldn't do to ensure it stayed that way. It took months of preparation, phone calls, negotiations and legal advice. Ms. Gnekow and her staff, specifically her assistant Brianne, were nothing but helpful and gave me back the hope that I had slowly lost over the previous 9 months. The horrendous and unprofessional representation I received from my previous attorney had shaken my belief system to its core but Ms. Gnekow's strong work ethic, personal family morals and intelligence made all the difference in the world. Vanessa not only gave me great legal advice and representation but she was also emotionally vested in my specific situation. These, and these reasons alone, made it possible for me to follow the specific steps in order to ensure a successful custodial order form the Judge. I am filled with gratitude and admiration for the professional competency and effort put forth in my custody case by Vanessa Gnekow. Words cannot properly describe what a wonderful attorney she is. If you are looking for an attorney who is not bullied and will not back down in court, one who will look out for your best interest and most importantly, the interest of your children…you've found her. i would like the rate vanessa Gnekow 100 but since they only 5 starts thats fine she is one of the top lawyers in the state of california for child custody battles if your looking for a lawyer she is the best one she went above and beyond for my children and my case and rate was a good one you get wh...at you pay for. i am happy with the outcome and results with my case.

Vanessa Gnekow was extremely helpful in this difficult time in my life. I had multiple court cases regarding legal custody of my child. She took my calls and emails every time I had a question.
