Mr. Abernathy and his team are amazing. My ex is a malignant narcissist, if you know anything about such people, I pray for you. I asked a friend for a referral. He referred Mr. Abernathy, his ex-wife’s attorney. He said he was honest and fair and said he is the one I need. A few days later I was chatting with a stranger and somehow, we started talking about my “situation”. Turns out she was an attorney. She said you need Christopher Abernathy. At my consultation he was very straight forward. He seemed laser focused and does let you know worst case scenario. I was scared. I’m still scared. If you have a narcissist for a spouse, you need Chris and his team, he sees right through it all. My ex won’t quit and Chris does not back down. He immediately wanted me to get a TRO. But I was too scared of my ex and scared what the courts would think. Would they believe me, would they care? My ex fought date of separation, so I couldn’t get court date for almost a year. Ridiculous but you have to stay the course and work the process, Chris told me. Again, as my husband would drive by, taunt me, etc. Mr. Abernathy and his staff stood by me and tried to keep me calm. And would still advise me to get a TRO. Ashley did a deposition with my ex. My ex thinks he is smarter than everyone or can bully them into submission. When I read the transcript, I felt in shock. She did an amazing job. He doesn’t like to be told what to do and especially by a woman. A smart, young intelligent woman that just grilled him. I could read his anger on the pages. At trial, Wow Mr. Abernathy's presence gives you a calmness in a high anxiety situation. I had no idea what was going to happen, just that I needed to sit calmly and answer truthfully. Seems pretty simple but my husband is quite volatile, even in a court of law. From the first question Mr. Abernathy asked my husband I thought he was going to fly out of the witness seat. Chris knows how to get the truth to be shown. My ex would lie and Chris wasn’t having it. He just boxed him in. WOW was he mad. He’s not used to people standing up to him. He was staring Chris down so hard. And yelling. Chris was completely calm just firmly asking him questions. Mr. Abernathy had complete control of the situation. Ran circles around apposing counsel. His knowledge of the law is amazing to watch. Each day of trial my husband’s behavior became more aggressive towards Mr. Abernathy, he’s demeanor never wavered, complete professional. Before and after court my ex had approached and scared me in the parking and in the hallway. Again, Mr. Abernathy and his team advised me to get a TRO and I agreed. I was very nervous, if I didn’t get it things would get much worse for me. Jerome walked me through the whole thing. He kept me calm and was so patient with me. There are not enough thank you’s for Jerome. Mr. Abernathy was successful in obtaining the TRO! I could breathe, so I thought. EX immediately broke the order. Chris said call the police, report every incident. My ex then yet again broke the order at the courthouse and Chris said that’s it and we are filing contempt of court. There’s is just too much to tell here, but you need to know that if you have an abusive, narcissist ex you need Mr. Abernathy and his team. They are not afraid of such creatures and they have your back. Complete ROCKSTARS! I just want to cry that someone sees this is not right, and wants to fight for me. Get a therapist and personal support system, because they are all business and don’t mess around. Divorce is difficult in the best situations. When you’re divorcing a monster like this you need the best, period. Stay tuned…

Abernathy’s office has been amazing. Mr. Abernathy is the best attorney around and his team is outstanding! Alicia, his paralegal, has made this difficult divorce process much easier and seamless. Chris and his team are simply the best. The entire staff responds quickly and efficiently. Meetings/calls with Chris are direct, and your questions are answered. I never felt that he or his team were wasting my time (money) simply adding hours. Vanessa at his office was my go-to contact for most things and she was outstanding. Everyone at his office including him, did exactly what they said they would do. Chris is NOT the cheapest... and he shouldn't be... the level of professionalism his team provides is worth his fees. With that said, My favorite thing about Chris is that once it appeared my Ex and I could come to agreement.. He worked hard to make that happen. This saved me a massive amount of money and stress. I would like to share my experience with Mr. Abernathy. He is really a experienced professional lawyer. I had a ongoing case with my ex involving children custody, support and DV since August. After read many reviews on the yelp and bio of different lawyers, I decided to go with Mr. Abernathy. He gave professional suggestions from the 1st meeting and handled the case in all details. After many months paperwork exchange and communication, we went to first trial in Dec for custody, support and so called "TRO". Mr. Abernathy is very knowledgeable and sharp, he is applying all the strategies and skills to protect me, and fight for my benefits. Finally, we won the first battle and I got the joined children custody with reasonable support, and the so called "TRO" is removed. I really appreciate Mr. Abernathy help and definitely recommend him for family law service. Great service!

I have been trying to get my divorce finalized with for almost 3 years now. I have consulted with multiple lawyers in the past 3 years, hired 2 of them and was never able to get any favorable results. Then came Mr. Abernathy. He defended me a contempt case my ex filed against me. His knowledge of the law, case procedure and ability to not only give arguments in court but be able to support them with case laws, previous cases etc. helped him win all his arguments. The opposing attorney was left speechless as he objected to and won almost anything the opposing attorney tried. At the end the opposing attorney just threw up her arms and rested. All charges dismissed. Not just in the court room, but waiting outside the courtroom for my hearings in the past months, I have seen the respect Mr. Abernathy has from other attorneys, court bailiffs and other clients. I hired Mr Abernathy after battling my ex husband for 5 years in court. I had filed an ex parte pro per in December 2019. I immediately went to his office and met with him. He assured me, after telling me all the wrong things I did in my filing, that he could get the visitation I wanted with my son. When we next appeared in court January 2020, the judge modified our custody but we were set to reappear in April to follow up. Then the pandemic hit. My ex husband showed his true colors again and with held our son from many more then 17 times until we were able finally to be heard again in court in June. With the hopes to settle the stoked fires, the judge sent us to mediation again. All the while, Mr Abernathy kept reminding me to be patient. “Let’s give him more rope to hang himself”. We sat before the judge again in December 2020 and Mr Abernathy eloquently went through the prior year of all the violations of the court order that my ex did. And the judge agreed, awarding me majority physical custody. We won! I have been in court for seven years now. It’s exhausting and beyond stressful. But Mr Abernathy and his entire staff have been so easy to work with, supportive, patient and committed to getting the results I wanted. Mr Abernathy is a badass in the courtroom! While I hoped December would be the end, I do believe we will be headed to trial in the near future but I’m beyond confident that with Mr Abernathy will continue to deliver wins in my case. If you’re looking for a beast in the family law court, hire Mr Abernathy!

Chris litigated on my behalf for almost five years. My takeaways: He is highly respected. Stating he is knowledgeable is an understatement. This man is an expert at what he does. I want to start out by saying that I have been in an almost constant battle with my ex-husband for almost ten years. I have had different attorneys, my ex husband has had different attorneys, and I have seen MANY other attorneys in the courtroom fighting cases through those years. Not ONE is like Christopher Abernathy. I came to the Abernathy Family Law Firm after reading the rave reviews on social media, Yelp, and local Facebook groups. I had just had a pretty big loss in court because my, then attorney was unprepared. I called and made an appointment for a consultation and got an appointment within a few days of my call. I remember like it was yesterday sitting in his office just crying and hoping that there was something that he could do to help. He was honest!!! He told me no, not right now. He explained the situation, laid out all of the facts and scenarios and gave me a plan. He said, if you do everything we talked about and there is still no improvement, come back to me in November and we will see where we are at. He could have easily taken my retainer fee and written bogus declarations, filing fees, court costs etc, but he wouldn’t. Three months went by and I did exactly what we talked about and documented everything! November first rolled around and I called, made an appointment, and came back in to his office. I laid everything out that had been happening and we went through it all. He asked me some pretty tough questions and he also gave me some pretty tough answers. He will never sugar coat anything for you. Christopher Abernathy tells it like it is which is hard sometimes. He will always keep his word, be honest with you, and he will FIGHT for you. The couple of times that I had the opportunity to be in the court room with him were truly a privilege. I could literally sit and watch him all day during other cases. He is a SHARK!!! I’ve never seen anything like it!! Mr. Abernathy is so knowledgeable on every detail of your case! It’s as if he has been around you through the whole deal. He remembers everything and makes you feel like you are his only client. You will never know the feeling of sitting in front of a judge and having your attorney thumb through papers trying to find an answer for the judge. It happened to me with my last attorney. It’s the worst feeling in the world. That will NEVER happen with Chris. His note taking abilities and attention to detail are truly remarkable. Christopher Abernathy is a true professional and very highly respected in the courtroom by Judges and other attorneys! I feel like I could go on and on but I will keep it short. His staff is amazing. True professionals! From what I have noticed in his office Mr Abernathy prides himself on hiring retired or active military within the firm which is a huge plus in my book. I have two active military brothers and a Vietnam Veteran Father, I appreciate the fact that the Abernathy law firm supports the military. Chris knew my story and the abuse we endured from my ex-husband and mother in-law and other family members. I feel like he fought for the safety of my children in such an honorable way. He is a busy man, but he is an excellent attorney. Even after all the traumatizing situations my ex subjected me to, and the lies his attorney had to make up because she couldn't find anything on me, I felt safe in the court room next to Chris. I believe God has given him a gift.

While Chris is first a divorce attorney, he can at times give great advice about facing the harsh realities that divorce can bring, he can be a bit of a counselor at times which was very helpful to me. His straightforward communication was what is needed at the time you are facing divorce and all that comes with it. Highly recommend.

It's may seem like a strange title but it's true. I've gone to court for 5 years: 2 lawyers, and 4 judges later it's finally settled. Per my observation in the courtrooms over the years, it was immediately apparent that Mr. Abernathy's presence commanded respect from other lawyers, court recorders, clerks and even the bailiffs. Absolutely a straight shooter, telling me honestly what my options were, when to fight and when to let something go. Divorce is a terrible thing and the ex was completely unreasonable, the court system is broken, and other lawyers are paid to make your life miserable. Chris is your best defensive player in this nasty battle. His team is remarkable in every way. They are kind, through, sensitive to the customer and quick to respond. They also will listen to reason and make your needs come to fruition. As an added bonus, the whole office staff is attractive. Just telling the truth!
