I want to start out by saying that I have been in an almost constant battle with my ex-husband for almost ten years. I have had different attorneys, my ex husband has had different attorneys, and I have seen MANY other attorneys in the courtroom fighting cases through those years. Not ONE is like Chr...istopher Abernathy. I came to the Abernathy Family Law Firm after reading the rave reviews on social media, Yelp, and local Facebook groups. I had just had a pretty big loss in court because my, then attorney was unprepared. I called and made an appointment for a consultation and got an appointment within a few days of my call. I remember like it was yesterday sitting in his office just crying and hoping that there was something that he could do to help. He was honest!!! He told me no, not right now. He explained the situation, laid out all of the facts and scenarios and gave me a plan. He said, if you do everything we talked about and there is still no improvement, come back to me in November and we will see where we are at. He could have easily taken my retainer fee and written bogus declarations, filing fees, court costs etc, but he wouldn’t. Three months went by and I did exactly what we talked about and documented everything! November first rolled around and I called, made an appointment, and came back in to his office. I laid everything out that had been happening and we went through it all. He asked me some pretty tough questions and he also gave me some pretty tough answers. He will never sugar coat anything for you. Christopher Abernathy tells it like it is which is hard sometimes. He will always keep his word, be honest with you, and he will FIGHT for you. The couple of times that I had the opportunity to be in the court room with him were truly a privilege. I could literally sit and watch him all day during other cases. He is a SHARK!!! I’ve never seen anything like it!! Mr. Abernathy is so knowledgeable on every detail of your case! It’s as if he has been around you through the whole deal. He remembers everything and makes you feel like you are his only client. You will never know the feeling of sitting in front of a judge and having your attorney thumb through papers trying to find an answer for the judge. It happened to me with my last attorney. It’s the worst feeling in the world. That will NEVER happen with Chris. His note taking abilities and attention to detail are truly remarkable. Christopher Abernathy is a true professional and very highly respected in the courtroom by Judges and other attorneys! I feel like I could go on and on but I will keep it short. His staff is amazing. True professionals! From what I have noticed in his office Mr Abernathy prides himself on hiring retired or active military within the firm which is a huge plus in my book. I have two active military brothers and a Vietnam Veteran Father, I appreciate the fact that the Abernathy law firm supports the military. While no one wishes to find themselves in a child custody case, Mr. Abernathy and his firm were extremely knowledgeable, intelligent, trustworthy and professional throughout the process.  I was very impressed with Mr. Abernathy's ability to get up to speed on the facts of my case days prior to the fi...rst court hearing.  The Abernathy firm made me feel at ease and made me a priority from day one. I would highly recommend Chris to anyone! My previous lawyer who works in the same area, wouldn't respond and was weak on his approach when he would respond. After doing my due diligence, I wanted to find a lawyer that will fight for my best interests. When I went to see Chris for a consult, he wa...s able to pull up my entire case history on the spot. That's when I found out my ex had filed a motion to move my son out of state without my knowledge! My other lawyer never even called me about it... that filing would have gone into default and my son would have moved out of state. I have 50/50 custody. I hired Chris on the spot and he immediately went to work! My ex hired one of the biggest/most expensive law firms in San Diego. Chris won the case and ran the big time San Diego lawyer out of town. Then she hired another attorney (local) to go after me for more alimony. Once again, Chris prevailed! The alimony I had to pay was reduced to $0! Rightfully so. The judge had to call for a recess to review the law. She came back and stated Chris was correct and ruled in my favor. I am telling you if you want the BEST you want Christopher R Abernathy by your side. He gets things done fast and efficient. He charges the going rate and keeps cost down because he doesn't drag things on. I can go on and on about how Chris saved me from a nightmare. Trust me you can TRUST him. Thank you Chris! I hired Mr. Abernathy's firm after I fired my first attorney. I met with him two days before a hearing. He was able to rearrange some things and have someone attend my hearing so I was represented. He did everything to help me during this case. Not only did he appear in family court but he also r...epresented me in Child support court after my ex had my wages garnished after I had been paying. Chris was able to get the garnishment lifted as I had not missed a payment. I did not always like everything Chris had to say because I did not agree with how the law works in California. Chris explained the process to me and did an amazing job to represent my best interests. I am completely satisfied with the outcome of my divorce. I also worked with Rebecca Perkins during my case. She was also amazing. The firm was patient with me and helped me through everything. Both attorneys provided me with sound legal advice and minimized the financial hit I took.
