About Cory
Biography
An experienced litigator with a strong background in intellectual property and general commercial law, Cory has first and second-chaired trials in both state and federal courts, handled numerous appeals and arbitrations and negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of a legion of clients including prominent entertainment, fashion, real estate and financial services companies. Cory frequently counsels his individual and business clients on conflict avoidance, but when conflict cannot be avoided, he makes it his practice to season his zealous advocacy with honesty, integrity and humor.
In August 2014, after spending nine years in Big Law (2005-2008 at Locke Lord LLP and 2008-2014 at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP), Cory joined forces with his former Locke Lord colleague and close friend, Brandon Witkow, to launch a full-service boutique firm that offers high end legal services at a reasonable cost. Early in his career in 2007, Cory took a leave of absence from private practice to clerk for the Hon. John F. Walter of the United States District Court for the Central District of Los Angeles. Prior to attending law school, Cory was a Teach for America corps member, teaching second grade in the South Bronx in New York City and sixth grade in Southeast Los Angeles. In January 2000, Cory earned his Bachelor of Arts, Phi Beta Kappa, from Rice University in Houston. Cory grew up on the North Shore of Chicago and remains a huge Chicago sports fan, and, unrelatedly, is also a supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
Cory is a 2005 graduate of the UCLA School of Law and has also been a practicing member of the California Bar since 2005. Cory splits his time between California and Illinois and is licensed to practice law in both California and Illinois.
