Michael T Chulak

Hired M. Chulak for HOA case. He did nothing for 5 mos and did not return phone calls. Claims that he takes cases on a contingency, however his contract says it’s a contingency based on hours (what???). If you look on his website it lists other attorneys currently in the office, however, these att...orneys don’t work with or for him anymore. He breaches his own contracts! He’s deceiving and misleading. He takes on cases, does nothing and then dumps case-hoping to collect on someone else’s hard work. Charges for services never performed, even when proven. I do not understand how Attorneys who are this unethical, unprofessional and dishonest are licensed and allowed to practice.

I’m a former client of Mr. Chulak and am also a lawyer myself. During my case I had to fire him and An associate Mr. Leittermeyer from my case. In Los Angels County Bar association arbitration, which Chulak failed to attend, I was awarded approx. $3,700 against Mr. Chulak. Instead of paying m...e the fees that he owed me he filed a small claims action against me seeking to vacate the arbitration order . He did not appear at the Trial and the judge entered judgment in my favor. He does not return my calls nor answer my emails asking for payment. Now I’m forced to take action to collect the judgment including a judgment debtor exam on June 21, 2018. I will also have to file a complaint with the Bar for violations of professional conduct! All of this for a return of $3,700 for a case he and his firm botched. As an aside I had to hire another lawyer who resolved the matter. All I can say is Shame! Would you hire a lawyer who treated his client and fellow lawyer this way?

In January 2015 I hired attorney Michael Chulak to help me with a dispute against an online college. I thought he was working on my case for 4 months. After 4 months he decides he is too busy to take my case. Just like that. Dumped my case and I have no say. I was waiting for 4 months for nothing, as... I thought he already sent the demand letter out. I stopped looking for another attorney and everything because I thought he was helping me. He built me up just to let me down.

Hired to update CC&Rs for small HOA. Did not perform the work contracted for and and refused to return calls or emails. Repeated attempts to recover files or money for HOA were for naught as he was willing to perjure himself in court as well. I would advise against retaining this individual for any ...work.
